Role Overview :

We are looking for an experienced Backup & Replication Administrator – L1 to manage day-to-day backup operations, monitor backup infrastructure, troubleshoot backup failures, and support data recovery across enterprise IT environments. The ideal candidate must have strong hands-on experience with Commvault, along with a sound understanding of backup policies, scheduling, retention management, replication, and disaster recovery operations.

The role requires proactive monitoring, timely incident resolution, adherence to SLAs, and coordination with storage, network, and infrastructure teams to ensure reliable data protection and business continuity.

Key Responsibilities :

- Monitor and manage enterprise backup operations using Commvault (mandatory); knowledge of Veritas NetBackup is an added advantage.
- Configure and maintain backup policies, schedules, retention periods, and backup configurations.
- Perform daily monitoring of backup jobs and troubleshoot failures within defined SLA timelines.
- Execute backup and restore operations across Windows and Linux/UNIX environments.
- Configure backup clients, agents, and associated services.
- Support snapshot-based backups for physical and virtual environments.
- Assist with Kubernetes backup operations and S3-compatible object storage integrations.
- Conduct routine health checks and proactively monitor backup infrastructure performance.
- Apply approved patches and updates to backup systems while ensuring compatibility and operational stability.
- Perform log analysis, troubleshoot backup and recovery issues, and assist with root cause analysis (RCA).




- Maintain backup documentation, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and configuration records.
- Assist in disaster recovery (DR) drills, replication validation, and recovery testing.
- Coordinate with storage, network, server, and infrastructure teams to resolve technical issues.
- Prepare and share daily/weekly backup reports covering job status, failures, performance, and capacity.
- Manage incidents and service requests through ITSM tools, following established processes and escalation procedures.
- Participate in 24×7 rotational shifts and on-call support as required.

Required Technical Skills :

- Commvault : Robust hands-on experience in backup administration, monitoring, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Backup & Recovery : Knowledge of full, incremental, and synthetic full backups, restore procedures, scheduling, and retention management.
- Operating Systems : Experience supporting Windows and Linux/UNIX environments, including RHEL and Ubuntu.
- Commvault Tools : Familiarity with Commvault Command Center and CommCell Console.
- Replication & Snapshots : Understanding of snapshot management, replication, deduplication, and data recovery concepts.
- Storage & Cloud : Basic knowledge of S3-compatible object storage and AWS cloud backup integrations.
- Tape Management : Understanding of tape libraries, media management, and backup storage operations.
- Troubleshooting : Experience in backup failure analysis, log investigation, incident resolution, and basic RCA.
- ITSM Tools : Familiarity with ServiceNow or similar incident and service management platforms.
- Scripting :



Basic knowledge of PowerShell or Bash for monitoring and routine automation.

Mandatory Skill : Hands-on experience with Commvault backup administration.

Good to Have : Veritas NetBackup, Kubernetes backup operations, AWS backup integrations, and enterprise disaster recovery exposure.

Educational Qualifications :

- BE/B.Tech/M.Tech/M.Sc./MCA or equivalent qualification in an IT-related discipline.
- Educational background must be in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Electronics.
- Commvault or Veritas NetBackup certifications are preferred.
- ITIL Foundation certification is an added advantage.

Preferred Experience :

- Experience working in enterprise IT infrastructure or data centre environments.
- Exposure to disaster recovery planning, backup replication, and recovery validation.
- Familiarity with remote monitoring tools and infrastructure support processes.
- Experience supporting mission-critical environments with strict availability and data protection requirements.
