The Senior Payroll Specialist will oversee accurate and timely payroll processing for India, managing and correcting payroll transactions while ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable regulations. The role will support pre-payroll and year-end activities, review and validate payroll files prepared internally or by the Global Payroll Vendor (GPV), and ensure all critical payroll deadlines are met. The specialist will also provide timely, professional support to employees and managers by resolving payroll-related queries and collaborating with internal stakeholders and external providers to maintain a reliable and productive payroll service.
Key responsibilities
- Process and correct payroll transactions, ensuring accuracy and adherence to key payroll deadlines.
- Partner with internal stakeholders and the GPV to process payroll and resolve transaction errors.
- Review, validate, and approve payroll files and reports,
including payroll reconciliation and bank files.
- Support pre-payroll activities, including finalizing data entry, reviewing master-data quality, and confirming the completeness of time and payroll inputs.
- Resolve input and processing errors with third-party vendors and internal AbbVie stakeholders, including bank errors in partnership with Treasury.
- Support year-end payroll activities, including payroll calendars, year-end tax-report reviews, and employee communications on tax information.
- Respond to payroll-related questions from Tax, Treasury, Finance, BHR, employees, and managers, and support internal and external audits.
- Lead smaller global, regional, and country-specific projects and contribute to global project teams.
- Provide indirect leadership and functional guidance to contractors across the affiliate.
