Location: 1st Floor, The Walk, Hiranandani Estate, Thane

About Us

Selkie’s Bakery & Café is a much-loved, 50-seater gourmet bakery café at The Walk,

Hiranandani Estate, known for its highly rated customer experience and an eclectic range

of desserts and bakes inspired by 14+ countries, including Japan, Hungary, Taiwan,

Australia, Puerto Rico, etc

We are looking for a passionate and detail-oriented Barista who enjoys specialty

coffee, takes pride in beverage quality, and is eager to grow their skills in a quality-driven

café environment.

Position: Junior Barista

Working Hours

• 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM

• One weekly off, between Monday and Wednesday

Responsibilities

• Prepare espresso-based beverages, including cappuccinos, lattes, flat whites,

Americanos, and other café beverages, as per established recipes and standards.

• Demonstrate good proficiency in milk steaming, achieving the correct milk texture

and temperature for different beverages.

• Execute latte art consistently, with a focus on clean, well-textured milk and good

presentation.

• Understand espresso extraction fundamentals and assist with espresso dial-in to

maintain beverage consistency.

• Follow standard recipes, beverage specifications, and portioning guidelines

accurately.

• Maintain consistency in coffee taste, milk texture, beverage temperature, and

presentation throughout service.

• Provide friendly, attentive, and professional service to guests.

• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene at the coffee station, including the espresso

machine, grinder, steam wands, and other equipment.

• Follow café SOPs, food safety standards, and proper milk storage and handling

practices.

• Monitor coffee, milk, and other beverage supplies, and inform the team when

replenishment is required.





• Work collaboratively with the service and kitchen teams to ensure smooth daily

operations.

• Participate in coffee training and continuously improve beverage-making skills.

Preferred Skills

• Valuable proficiency in milk steaming and microfoam preparation.

• Ability to execute latte art; proficiency in basic patterns such as hearts and tulips is

expected.

• Understanding of espresso-based beverages and standard coffee recipes.

• Basic knowledge of espresso extraction and grinder adjustment is an advantage.

• Good attention to detail, consistency, and cleanliness.

• Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to work in a fast-paced café

environment.

• Strong communication and guest-service skills.

Role Expectations & Café Operations

Selkie’s Bakery & Café operates with a small, collaborative team where everyone

contributes across different aspects of café operations. This is a hands-on, all-rounder

role, and responsibilities extend beyond coffee preparation.

• Pre-opening operations: Take responsibility for morning opening duties, including

cleaning and setting up the café, preparing the coffee station, checking equipment

functionality, ensuring the espresso machine and grinder are ready for service, and

completing other opening checklists.

• Coffee preparation: Prepare espresso-based beverages to the café’s quality and

presentation standards, ensuring consistency throughout the shift.

• Food preparation: Assist with basic food preparation, plating,



and other kitchen or

counter tasks as required.

• Customer service: Welcome guests, take orders, serve food and beverages, and

help ensure a warm and efficient customer experience.

• Cleaning & housekeeping: Maintain cleanliness across the coffee station, service

counters, dining area, and other café spaces. Complete routine cleaning and

housekeeping tasks as required.

• Team collaboration: Step in wherever needed during service, working closely with

the kitchen and service team to keep daily operations running smoothly.

Important: Candidates should be comfortable taking on responsibilities beyond their

primary barista role. A proactive attitude, flexibility, ownership, and willingness to help

wherever needed are essential.

Qualifications & Experience

• 1–2+ years of relevant barista experience in a café, coffee shop, or similar

hospitality environment.

• Practical proficiency in milk steaming and latte art is necessary.

• Experience working with an espresso machine and coffee grinder is expected.

• Specialty coffee experience is preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods during service.

• Comfortable handling coffee equipment, milk containers, and café supplies.

• Ability to work efficiently during busy service periods while maintaining beverage

quality and hygiene.

Compensation

• Salary: ₹20,000 per month
