- Troubleshoot hydraulic failures and perform corrective actions on pumps, valves, cylinders, hoses, manifolds, and accumulators.
- Conduct routine preventive and predictive maintenance for high-pressure hydraulic units.
- Inspect and repair hydraulic cylinders, seals, pipes, fittings, and hoses.
- Perform hydraulic flushing, oil filtration, contamination control, and leak testing.
- Read and interpret hydraulic schematics and P&ID; drawings commonly used in steel plants.
- Assist in commissioning of new hydraulic systems and modifications.
- Monitor system pressures, temperatures, and flow parameters for optimum equipment performance.
- Maintain maintenance logs, breakdown reports, and spare parts documentation.
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures and steel plant operational standards.
Required Skills
- Solid knowledge of hydraulic components: pumps, proportional valves, servo valves, cylinders, motors, accumulators, filters, manifolds, etc.
- Experience with steel plant machinery (Rolling Mill, CCM, EAF, BF, Coke Oven, Sinter Plant, etc.).
- Proficiency in troubleshooting high-pressure hydraulic circuits (up to 250–350 bar).
- Hands-on skills in pipe bending, hose crimping, fitting replacement, and system assembly.
- Ability to read and interpret hydraulic schematics and P&IDs.;
- Knowledge of lubrication systems (preferred).
- Mechanical aptitude with good problem-solving skills.
Qualifications
- ITI Fitter / Diploma in Mechanical or relevant trade.
- Certification in Hydraulics (preferred).
- 4–7 years’ experience in hydraulic maintenance in the steel industry.
