Senior Software Engineer – C++ / Linux Desktop (Medical Devices)

About the Role
We are looking for a C++ Software Engineer to build and optimize our core Ubuntu Linux GUI desktop application that powers our next-generation medical imaging devices. You will sit at the intersection of high-performance software engineering and medical hardware, processing live, raw X-ray data streams, executing real-time image processing, and orchestrating multi-threaded communication with complex physical hardware.
If you love writing highly optimized C++ code, working close to the metal, and knowing your code directly impacts patient diagnostics and lives, this role is for you.
What You Will Do
- Real-Time Data Processing: Build features to acquire raw X-ray frames directly from detectors, process them in real time using image processing libraries, and render them with ultra-low latency onto high-resolution monitors.
- Low-Level Hardware Integration: Interface the GUI application with complex external medical modules (X-ray Generators, Collimators, and Capacitive Touch Panels) over Serial (RS232/RS485), CAN 2.0, and Ethernet communication protocols.
- Performance Engineering: Debug, profile,
and push the performance boundaries of the Ubuntu Linux desktop app utilizing robust multi-threading techniques.
- Core Application Architecture: Own medical app workflows, including Patient Image Database Management, Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), and standard DICOM / PACS network and report generation configurations.
- Remote & Cloud Features: Implement robust, secure pipelines for remote access control, diagnostics, and secure over-the-air (OTA) software upgrades.
- Quality & Automation: Author comprehensive test plans, scripts, and build your own hardware-in-the-loop validation tools using Python.
What We Are Looking For (Requirements)
- Education: BE/BTech or ME/MTech in Computer Science, Electronics & Communication, or Biomedical Engineering.
- C++ Expertise: 2 to 5 years of professional experience developing high-performance GUI desktop applications natively on Ubuntu Linux.
- Systems Architecture: Comfort using building systems and compilers like CMake, GCC, or ICC.
- Hardware Literacy: Direct experience handling physical serial interfaces and debugging hardware interactions using tools like Digital Storage Oscilloscopes etc.
- High-Quality Practices: Experience moving through the entire Product Development Lifecycle (PDLC), adhering to rigorous quality assurance standards.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience navigating regulatory compliance frameworks or cybersecurity standards for medical devices.
- Familiarity using AI Prompt Engineering to accelerate debugging, documentation, and test script automation.
