Overview

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a CANDU Quality Specialist to support the delivery of world-class nuclear projects across the global CANDU portfolio. Reporting to Quality function, you will provide independent quality assurance oversight to ensure engineering and project activities are delivered in compliance with nuclear regulatory requirements, customer commitments, and the CANDU Quality Assurance Program.

You will play a key role in strengthening quality culture, driving compliance, managing quality risks, and ensuring the objective evidence, traceability, and governance required to support safe, reliable, and Right First-Time delivery within a highly regulated nuclear environment.

Your Role

Nuclear Quality Assurance

- Support the implementation and continual improvement of the CANDU Quality Assurance Program.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, customer, project, and management system requirements.
- Support the development and execution of project Quality Assurance Plans and quality oversight strategies.
- Provide independent quality assurance support across engineering and project delivery activities.
- Promote a strong Nuclear Safety Culture and Quality Culture across project teams.

Engineering Quality

- Provide quality assurance oversight of design and engineering processes.
- Verify compliance with design control, verification, validation, and configuration management requirements.
- Support quality reviews and assessments of engineering deliverables and records.
- Identify quality risks and drive timely resolution of quality concerns.
- Ensure objective evidence is maintained to demonstrate compliance with project and regulatory requirements.

Audit, Compliance and Continuous Improvement

- Conduct audits, surveillances, and compliance assessments.
- Support customer, regulatory, and third-party inspections.
- Manage quality findings, non-conformances, and corrective actions through to effective closure.
- Facilitate root cause analysis and lessons learned activities.
- Analyse quality trends and identify opportunities to improve performance and reduce risk.

Stakeholder Engagement

- Partner with Engineering, Project Management, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to embed quality requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide quality guidance and coaching to project teams and stakeholders.




- Communicate quality performance, emerging risks, and improvement opportunities to management.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

- Degree in Engineering and Quality Management
- Experience in Quality Assurance, Quality Engineering, Nuclear Quality, or other highly regulated industries.
- Experience implementing and maintaining Quality Management Systems and Quality Assurance Programs.
- Experience conducting audits, assessments, supplier oversight, or compliance activities.
- Experience managing non-conformances, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Working knowledge of

- CSA N299 Series
- CSA N286
- ASME NQA-1
- ISO 9001 and ISO 19443
- Nuclear Safety Culture principles




- Supplier Quality Assurance
- Audit and Surveillance Techniques
- Design Control and Verification
- Configuration Management
- Quality Records and Traceability
- Non-Conformance and Corrective Action Management
- Working knowledge of Hexagon, AVEVA Smart 3D / E3D, and Siemens NX and domain knowledge of nuclear sector

Desirable

- CQI/IRCA Lead Auditor qualification.
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or equivalent.
- Experience supporting CANDU, nuclear new build, refurbishment, or life extension projects.
- Experience as a QA Specialist, QA Engineer, PQAR, CQAR, or equivalent quality role.
- Lean Six Sigma certification.
- Experience with digital quality management and reporting tools.
