Role Overview
We are looking for a technically competent, hands-on QMS Development Lead with proven aerospace quality management system experience. In this role, you will build a practical, traceable Quality Management System that connects engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, inspection, risk management, and continual improvement. This role is about building quality into every process, not merely preparing documents for audits.
You will maintain independence and objectivity when reporting quality risks, verify corrective-action effectiveness, and never compromise applicable requirements.
Key Responsibilities
QMS Development & Implementation
- Develop, maintain, and improve a practical QMS aligned with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and AS9100 requirements and the company’s actual scope of activities.
- Establish and maintain procedures, process maps, work instructions, forms, records, and document-control practices.
Risk Management & Internal Audits
- Identify process and product risks, evaluate potential failures, establish suitable controls, and monitor their effectiveness.
- Plan and conduct risk-based internal audits, document findings, and verify that corrective actions are effective.
Root Cause, Corrective Action & Nonconformity Management
- Lead or facilitate RCA, CAPA, 8D, and other problem-solving methods to prevent recurrence rather than merely correct symptoms.
- Establish practical methods to identify, contain, investigate, disposition, and resolve nonconforming products or processes.
Supplier Quality
- Support supplier qualification, quality evaluation, and supplier audits.
- Manage supplier nonconformities and drive supplier improvement activities.
Metrics, Management Review & Digital QMS
- Develop meaningful quality indicators, analyse trends, report risks and performance, and support management reviews.
- Digitise document control, audit management, CAPA tracking, training records,
and quality reporting while maintaining data integrity and traceability.
Training, Culture & Readiness
- Help teams understand why quality controls matter and make quality part of daily work rather than an activity performed only before audits.
- Maintain evidence-based compliance, identify gaps early, and coordinate improvement actions with the relevant process owners.
Qualification & Experience Requirements
Education: Degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated professional expertise.
Experience: Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience, including hands-on aerospace QMS experience.
Mandatory Exposure: Practical experience with AS9100 implementation, maintenance, auditing, or improvement, along with DGQA requirements, in an aerospace-related organisation.
Technical & Qualified Skills Required
- Standards Knowledge: Working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and applicable AS9100 and DGQA requirements.
- Quality Tools: Practical experience with internal audits, nonconformities, root cause analysis, corrective action, document control, and process improvement.
- Process Building: Ability to interpret standards and convert requirements into workable operating processes.
- Professional Skills: Strong analytical thinking, professional communication, integrity, and cross-functional coordination.
Desirable / Preferred Add-On Knowledge
- Supplier Quality: Supplier quality management and supplier audit experience.
- Aerospace Manufacturing: Exposure to special-process controls, product traceability, and configuration management.
- Digital QMS: Familiarity with digital QMS platforms, workflow automation, dashboards, and quality-data analysis.
- Growth-Stage Experience: Experience establishing or strengthening a QMS in a growing or early-stage organisation.
- Certifications: Relevant quality or auditor certifications (e.g., AS9100 Lead Auditor).
