Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled and result-oriented Production Engineer with experience in gearbox manufacturing, assembly, machining, and quality control. The candidate will be responsible for managing day-to-day production activities, ensuring product quality, optimizing manufacturing processes, and achieving production targets while maintaining safety and operational efficiency.

Required Skills

Strong knowledge of gearbox manufacturing, machining, fitting, and assembly processes.

Ability to read and interpret mechanical engineering drawings and GD&T.;

Knowledge of gears, shafts, bearings, gear ratios, tolerances, and lubrication systems.

Familiarity with precision measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, and dial gauges.

Knowledge of quality control procedures and gearbox inspection/testing.

Strong problem-solving, team coordination, and production planning skills.

Proficiency in MS Excel and production reporting; ERP knowledge will be an advantage.

Experience in gearbox, gear manufacturing, industrial machinery, heavy engineering, or automotive component manufacturing.

Hands-on experience managing shop-floor production and assembly operations.

Ability to work in a target-driven manufacturing setting and manage production teams effectively.

Key Responsibilities

Plan, execute,



and monitor daily production activities related to gearbox manufacturing and assembly.

Supervise machining operations involving conventional machines, milling, drilling, and grinding, as applicable.

Ensure proper assembly of gearboxes, including gears, shafts, bearings, housings, seals, and lubrication systems.

Read and interpret engineering drawings, assembly drawings, technical specifications, and bills of materials (BOMs).

Monitor production schedules, manpower utilization, machine availability, and material requirements to meet delivery targets.

Ensure compliance with quality standards, dimensional tolerances, and manufacturing specifications.

Coordinate with the Quality, Maintenance, Purchase, Stores, and Design departments to resolve production-related issues.

Identify root causes of production defects, rework, and machine downtime, and implement corrective and preventive actions.

Conduct in-process inspections and coordinate gearbox testing, including noise, vibration, leakage, and performance checks, wherever applicable.

Monitor and improve productivity, cycle time, rejection rates, and overall manufacturing efficiency.

Ensure proper use of tools, measuring instruments, jigs, fixtures, and production equipment.

Maintain production reports, job cards, machine utilization records, rejection reports, and other manufacturing documentation.

Implement 5S, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and other continuous improvement practices on the shop floor.

Ensure adherence to workplace safety standards, housekeeping practices, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Train and guide machine operators, fitters, technicians, and assembly personnel to improve productivity and workmanship.
