Operations Manager — Warehousing, Mid-Mile & Last-Mile
About Tazzzo
Tazzzo is building the next generation of household commerce for India's next 200 million households, focused on trust, value and thoughtful shopping experiences. Our relationship-led model combines dedicated Household Managers with ordering through phone calls, WhatsApp and our app, supported by a lean, demand-led supply chain.
The Opportunity
This is a 0-to-1 opportunity to build Tazzzo's city operations from scratch, starting with our first cluster in Ejipura–Koramangala, Bengaluru.
You will own warehousing, mid-mile and last-mile operations, working directly with the founding team to establish the first fulfilment centre, build reliable delivery processes and create a playbook that can scale across multiple clusters and cities.
Tazzzo follows a planned, route-based next-day delivery model, not instant delivery. Orders are consolidated into customer-aligned delivery slots. Procurement is planned for the previous day or early on the delivery day to ensure product availability, timely order preparation and on-time deliveries.
This is a team leadership role. You will initially build and lead a small, hands-on team, with responsibility for expanding the team, processes and operational capacity as Tazzzo scales.
Key Responsibilities
1. Set up and lead warehouse operations
- Establish the first fulfilment centre from scratch, including layout, receiving, storage, picking, packing, dispatch and inventory control.
- Build and lead the warehouse team, defining roles, staffing plans, productivity standards and operating rhythms.
- Work with the central team to establish SOPs, technology workflows and quality standards.
- Ensure inventory accuracy, product availability, and minimal damage and wastage.
2. Own procurement coordination and mid-mile
- Coordinate with procurement and suppliers to plan purchases around next-day demand and customer delivery slots.
- Ensure timely inwarding, product quality, availability and fulfilment readiness.
- Identify and manage transport vendors; improve inbound reliability,
load consolidation, vehicle utilisation and transport costs.
3. Build an efficient, route-based last mile
- Identify, onboard and manage delivery partners.
- Design delivery routes, customer slots and rider allocation for consolidated next-day deliveries.
- Maximise orders delivered per vehicle per day while meeting promised delivery slots.
- Track delivery delays, failed deliveries, route adherence and cost per delivered order.
4. Own customer experience and reverse logistics
- Ensure every order is delivered on time, complete, accurate and in the right condition.
- Establish processes for missing, damaged, incorrect or poor-quality products, returns and reverse logistics.
- Resolve recurring operational issues with procurement, technology and the household team.
5. Own operating metrics and unit economics Build daily and weekly dashboards covering:
- Customer experience: on-time delivery, order accuracy, fill rate, complaints and failed deliveries.
- Warehouse: inventory and picking accuracy, orders per labour hour, stock-outs, shrinkage and wastage.
- Mid-mile: supplier on-time/in-full performance, inbound lead time, vehicle utilisation and cost per unit moved.
- Last mile: orders per vehicle per day, route adherence, first-attempt delivery success and cost per delivered order.
- Returns: return rate, return-to-stock turnaround and recovery rate.
- Economics: total fulfilment cost per order, logistics cost as a percentage of net sales, labour productivity and contribution margin impact.
6. Build for scale
- Create a repeatable operating playbook for future clusters and cities.
- Establish capacity planning, SOPs, dashboards,
escalation processes and performance reviews.
- Hire, train and develop the operations team as order volumes and geographic coverage expand.
- Scale warehouse capacity, people and delivery partners in line with order density—without proportionate cost increases.
Mandatory Requirements
- 5–10 years of overall experience in operations, supply chain, fulfilment or logistics.
- Quick-commerce experience is mandatory.
- At least 2–3 years of hands-on experience setting up, running and leading dark-store or fulfilment-centre operations at a quick-commerce company.
- Demonstrated experience managing warehouse teams, inventory, picking and packing, dispatch and last-mile delivery performance.
- Experience managing delivery partners, route planning, operational service levels and cost efficiency.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to use operational data to improve productivity, customer experience and unit economics.
Candidates whose experience is limited to planning, reporting or coordination without directly running and leading dark-store or fulfilment-centre operations will not be a fit.
The Mindset
- Entrepreneurial, hands-on and comfortable building from scratch.
- Takes end-to-end ownership and thrives in ambiguity.
- Willing to work on the warehouse floor and in the field with delivery partners.
- Can lead a small team initially and build a larger, high-performing team as the business scales.
- Balances customer delight, operational discipline and cost efficiency.
- Moves rapid, works hard and builds systems that scale beyond individual effort.
