Marketing & Communications Intern

Location: Bengaluru (Hybrid) | Internship Stipend: ₹25,000 per month | Duration: 6 Months

Are you the kind of person who notices a great social media campaign, loves writing, and wants to build real marketing experience rather than just "assist" with it?

At the IET, you'll help tell stories that matter.

From engineering breakthroughs and member success stories to scholarships, professional registration, events and communities, you'll help create content that reaches thousands of students, engineers and technology professionals across India. The role includes content creation, social media, blogs, website content, campaigns, member engagement and digital marketing.

This isn't a coffee-and-PowerPoint internship.

You'll write. A lot. With AI help, and without.

You'll interview people, create campaigns, build content, contribute ideas and help shape how engineering is communicated to audiences across India.

What you'll be doing:

- Write social media posts, articles, blogs, newsletters, member stories, case studies and campaign content.
- Interview engineers, volunteers, students and stakeholders and turn their experiences into engaging stories.
- Create content for LinkedIn, Instagram, websites and email campaigns.
- Support campaigns focused on membership, professional registration, scholarships, awards, events and communities.
- Help maintain and update website content.
- Track campaign performance and identify opportunities to improve engagement.
- Create simple visual assets using Canva and other tools.
- Bring fresh ideas to content, campaigns and audience engagement activities.
- Work with colleagues, volunteers and stakeholders across India and internationally.

Who we're looking for:

We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys writing. You might be running a blog, writing on LinkedIn,

contributing to a student publication, creating content for a society, or simply be the person everyone asks to write things because you're good at it.

You don't need years of marketing experience. You do need curiosity, creativity, strong communication skills and the ability to tell a story people actually want to read. And a willingness to learn and grow.

If you're the sort of person who spots a typo from across the room, we'll probably get along.

Essential Skills:

- Excellent written English.
- Robust storytelling and communication skills.
- Ability to simplify complex topics into engaging content.
- A creative, problem-solving mindset.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good organisational skills.
- Interest in marketing, communications, journalism, content creation or digital media.
- Willingness to learn and take ownership of projects.

Good to have:

- Experience writing blogs, articles or newsletters.
- Managed a social media account, publication or student community.
- Experience with Canva or basic graphic design tools.
- A personal blog, LinkedIn newsletter, Medium, Substack or portfolio website.
- Experience creating content for clubs, societies or volunteer organisations.

What you'll get:

- ₹25,000 monthly stipend
- Real ownership from day one
- Exposure to social media, content marketing, website management and digital campaigns
- Opportunities to interview professionals and create published content

- A portfolio of real-world marketing and communications work
- Mentorship and hands-on experience across multiple marketing disciplines
- A chance to help tell the stories of engineers, innovators, volunteers and future technology leaders across India

How to apply:

Please send the following to [email protected]

- Your CV
- A short note (maximum 300 words) telling us why you'd be a great fit
- At least two writing samples (blogs, articles, newsletters, LinkedIn posts, essays or published content)
- OR A portfolio link (Google Drive, Notion, Medium, Substack, personal website or similar)
- Bonus Points: If you spot anything in this that could be improved, tell us when you apply

Important: Applications without writing samples or a portfolio link will not be considered. We're less interested in where you've worked and more interested in what you've written. Show us something you're proud of. And remember to In your application email, include the word "Engineering" somewhere in the subject line in your email.

Ideal Candidate:

A curious storyteller who loves writing, enjoys learning new things, isn't afraid to ask questions, and wants to build a career in marketing and communications while working on projects that support engineers, students and technology professionals across India

About the IET: Every year, millions of people choose engineering as a way to solve problems, improve lives and shape the future. The IET exists to support them.

We work with students, engineers, researchers, volunteers and organisations through scholarships, professional registration, technical communities, events, publishing and career development opportunities. In India, our work reaches thousands of aspiring and practising engineers across the country. Visit: www.theiet.org
