AIRA Edtech empowers professionals, students, and organizations with practical, job-ready skills designed for the modern digital economy. We specialize in outcome-driven corporate and qualified training across emerging tech, AI literacy, and workplace capability building. Through interactive instructional design, modular learning paths, and modern LMS infrastructure, we help learners acquire applied skills that lead directly to tangible performance and career outcomes.
Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Instructional Designer & Moodle Specialist on an on-demand, project-based contract (freelance).
In this role, you will be engaged on a per-client / per-project basis to take client learning requirements, curriculum outlines, or storyboards and build them into polished, interactive, fully functioning courses inside Moodle. Work volume is directly tied to incoming client deliverables—making this ideal for an independent consultant or freelance e-learning developer seeking high-impact, milestone-driven projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Curriculum & Module Design: Apply sound instructional design models (ADDIE, SAM, backward design) to structure clear learning paths, objectives, storyboards, and assessments.
- Moodle Course Architecture & Build: Set up, organize, and format courses within Moodle, configuring sections, access rules, activity completion criteria, and course gradebooks.
- Interactive Content Authoring: Develop and integrate interactive activities and microlearning modules using Moodle-native tools, H5P, or external authoring tools (e.g., Articulate 360).
- Assessment & Evaluation Design: Build question banks, formative/summative quizzes, rubrics, and assignment dropboxes with automated grading and constructive feedback loops.
- SCORM / xAPI Integration: Package, test, and troubleshoot SCORM/xAPI learning packages within Moodle to ensure accurate reporting and completion tracking.
- Learner Experience & UX: Ensure course layouts are responsive, intuitive, accessible, and visually aligned with AIRA Edtech’s brand standards.
- Continuous Optimization: Monitor learner analytics, track completion rates, gather feedback, and iterate on existing Moodle courses to enhance engagement and outcomes.
Qualification & Skills
- Proven Instructional Design Experience: Solid foundation in adult learning theory, needs analysis, storyboard creation, and outcome-oriented curriculum design.
- Demonstrated Moodle Expertise: Practical, hands-on experience designing, structuring, and maintaining courses in Moodle (familiarity with Moodle course settings, plugins, H5P integration, gradebooks, and activity tracking is essential).
- E-Learning Standards: Strong familiarity with SCORM 1.2 / 2004 standards and testing packages for LMS compatibility.
- Authoring & Multimedia Tools: Experience using e-learning tools (Articulate Storyline/Rise, Canva, H5P, or basic video/audio editing software).
- Communication & Collaboration: Excellent written English skills with the ability to articulate complex concepts clearly and collaborate effectively in a remote, cross-functional setup.
- Problem-Solving & Detail Orientation: Diligence in QA testing, verifying link structures, quiz logic, and gradebook formulas before live release.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with basic HTML/CSS customization within Moodle course blocks.
- Familiarity with AI tools for accelerating content authoring, asset generation, or scriptwriting.
- Prior experience working in an EdTech startup or corporate L&D; environment.
