About the Opportunity

We are looking for a seasoned, hands-on sourcing leader to build and scale a strong supplier ecosystem across India for a growing international consumer-products business.

This is not a conventional procurement or purchase operations role. We are looking for someone with deep, ground-level knowledge of Indian manufacturing ecosystems, established relationships with factory owners and commercial decision-makers, and a proven ability to identify the right manufacturers, negotiate competitive commercial terms, and build reliable long-term supply partnerships.

The ideal candidate knows where products are manufactured, who makes them, what competitive pricing looks like, and how to turn supplier relationships into tangible business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

1. Direct Manufacturer Sourcing

Identify, evaluate and establish relationships directly with manufacturers, factories and production units across India.

Build a strong network of factory owners, manufacturing heads and commercial decision-makers.

Develop a detailed understanding of manufacturing clusters, production capabilities and supplier specialisations.

2. Commercial Negotiation

Negotiate competitive pricing, minimum order quantities (MOQs), payment terms, lead times and other commercial conditions.

Establish price benchmarks across manufacturers and identify opportunities for cost improvement.

Secure commercially attractive terms without compromising product quality or supplier reliability.

3. Product Development & Sampling

Work directly with manufacturers on product specifications, materials, finishes, samples and packaging.

Coordinate sample development, iterations and commercial finalisation.

Identify manufacturers capable of meeting product requirements and maintaining consistent quality.

4. Supplier Evaluation & Relationship Management

Assess supplier credibility, manufacturing capabilities, production capacity, quality processes and reliability.

Build a dependable supplier base with alternatives to manage concentration and supply risks.

Establish long-term partnerships while maintaining competitive commercial terms.

5. Sourcing Execution

Own the sourcing process from manufacturer discovery and initial engagement through negotiations,

sampling and production readiness.

Drive timelines, resolve supplier-side bottlenecks and ensure clear accountability.

Maintain structured information on supplier capabilities, quotations, MOQs, lead times and commercial terms.

6. Market Intelligence & Expansion

Identify emerging manufacturers, new product opportunities and evolving cost benchmarks.

Expand the supplier network across relevant manufacturing clusters in India.

Recommend sourcing opportunities based on product quality, commercial attractiveness, manufacturing capability and scalability.

Initial Product Categories

We are particularly interested in candidates with strong sourcing expertise in one or more of these categories:

Travel accessories: Passport wallets, travel wallets and related accessories.

Leather goods: Leather toiletry bags, belts, duffle bags, weekender bags and small leather goods.

Home textiles: 100% linen and waffle-weave cotton products, including throw blankets.

Lifestyle and gifting: Incense products, essential oils and curated gift sets.

Deep, hands-on expertise in a few relevant categories is more valuable than superficial familiarity with every category.

Minimum Experience & Eligibility

12+ years of total professional experience.

At least 8 years in product sourcing, strategic procurement or supplier development.

At least 5 years of hands-on, direct manufacturer-level sourcing experience, including negotiations with factory owners or senior commercial decision-makers.

Demonstrable sourcing expertise in at least two relevant product categories.

Established manufacturer relationships and a solid understanding of Indian manufacturing clusters.

Proven experience independently managing supplier identification, factory evaluation, price negotiations, MOQs, payment terms, sampling and production readiness.

Strong understanding of supplier cost structures, production capabilities,

quality considerations and manufacturing lead times.

Experience with international markets or export-oriented manufacturers will be an advantage.

Who Should Not Apply

This is a hands-on sourcing leadership role. The following profiles are not a fit:

Candidates primarily experienced in purchase order processing or procurement administration.

Candidates sourcing through distributors, dealers or trading companies without direct factory relationships.

Vendor coordinators without ownership of commercial negotiations.

General supply chain or logistics professionals without substantial product sourcing experience.

Candidates whose supplier discovery experience is limited to online directories without the ability to validate manufacturers and engage decision-makers directly.

What Success Looks Like A strong network of verified manufacturers across relevant product categories.

Competitive, well-negotiated pricing and commercial terms.

Clear visibility into supplier capabilities, MOQs, quotations, lead times and production readiness.

Faster product sampling and supplier onboarding.

Reliable manufacturing partnerships that can support sustained business growth.

Compensation & Opportunity

₹40 lakh–₹1 crore + ESOPs, depending on experience, demonstrated sourcing capability and overall fit.

This is an opportunity to build a meaningful sourcing function with significant ownership, direct business impact and long-term upside.

How to Apply

Please share your profile along with a brief note covering:

Total professional experience and years of hands-on product sourcing experience.

Product categories in which you have deep sourcing expertise.

Indian manufacturing clusters and regions you have worked with.

Experience negotiating directly with manufacturers and factory owners.

One or two examples of sourcing outcomes you have delivered, such as improved commercial terms, successful product development or building a new supplier network.

Please do not share confidential supplier information or proprietary documents belonging to current or former employers.

- Only candidates meeting the minimum experience criteria and possessing demonstrable, direct manufacturer-level sourcing expertise should apply. All enquiries will be handled confidentially.
