About the RoleWe are looking for an experienced Apparel Product Development & Merchandising Domain Specialist with strong knowledge of garment product development, sourcing, technical merchandising, and brand-side operations.

This is a domain expertise and product development role, not a conventional merchandising execution position. The selected candidate will work closely with our product, AI, and engineering teams to translate real-world apparel industry workflows into intelligent software solutions.

We are looking for someone who understands not only what merchandisers do, but why they do it, how decisions are made, and where existing processes can be improved.

Key Responsibilities1. Apparel Industry Domain Expertise

- Provide practical domain knowledge across product development, merchandising, sourcing, sampling, costing, and pre-production activities.
- Explain end-to-end workflows followed by fashion brands,



buying offices, and apparel manufacturers.
- Identify differences between brand-side and manufacturer-side merchandising operations.
- Document industry terminology, business processes, approval requirements, and operational challenges.

2. Brand-Side Sourcing & Merchandising Workflows

- Map how fashion brands manage seasonal collections, product development calendars, style development, and sourcing activities.
- Explain vendor selection, quotation comparison, target costing, and supplier coordination processes.
- Understand how brands coordinate with multiple factories and track product development progress.
- Identify operational challenges in brand-to-manufacturer communication, sample management, and approval tracking.

3. AI Product Development & Workflow Automation

- Collaborate with AI engineers and product teams to convert merchandising processes into software requirements.
- Identify repetitive manual activities suitable for AI-driven automation.
- Help design AI agents for sampling, costing, technical document processing, approvals, and workflow tracking.
- Validate AI-generated information against actual apparel industry practices.
- Define business rules, workflow exceptions, and scenarios requiring human intervention.
- Provide practical feedback to improve product accuracy, usability, and industry relevance.

4. Product Testing & Validation

- Develop realistic merchandising scenarios using tech packs, email conversations, costing sheets, approval documents, and WIP trackers.
- Test AI product features from the perspective of merchandisers, sourcing professionals, and product development teams.
- Identify incorrect interpretations, missing information, process gaps, and opportunities for improvement.

5. Customer & Product Collaboration

- Participate in product discussions, demonstrations, and feedback sessions with apparel manufacturers, buying offices, and brands.




- Understand customer workflows and translate operational requirements into actionable product improvements.
- Work with internal teams to prioritize features based on business value and user needs.
- Support the development of relevant industry use cases and product demonstrations.

Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong practical experience in apparel product development, technical merchandising, sourcing, or buying-office operations.
- Good understanding of end-to-end garment development, from initial design brief to bulk production approval.
- Ability to read and interpret tech packs, BOMs, measurement charts, specifications, and technical comments.
- Familiarity with brand-to-vendor communication, development calendars, and production handoff processes.
- Experience working with merchandising trackers, Excel-based WIP reports, and product development documentation.
- Strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate complex garment industry processes clearly to non-fashion professionals, including software engineers.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with a fashion brand, buying office, sourcing organization, or global apparel exporter.
- Experience coordinating product development across multiple factories or suppliers.
- Familiarity with PLM, ERP, or other apparel industry software platforms.
- Experience creating SOPs, process maps, training materials, or workflow documentation.
- Prior involvement in software implementation, process digitization, or automation projects is an advantage.

Prior AI or software development experience is not mandatory. Strong apparel industry knowledge and the ability to explain business workflows are more important. What Success Looks LikeThe successful candidate will:
