Compensation: ₹15,000/month for 3 months + ₹40,000/month after successful internship completion, subject to performance and PPO selection.

Role OverviewProsParity builds technology for the vehicle finance industry. We are looking for a motivated Backend Developer Intern / Fresher to join our engineering team and contribute to the backend services that power our lending business.

You will work on live backend development tasks, building and maintaining REST APIs, working with relational databases, debugging issues, and integrating services with external partners. Our preferred backend framework is FastAPI (Python), although candidates with Java or Node.js experience who can quickly adapt to FastAPI are encouraged to apply.

You will work closely with a senior developer, gain hands-on experience with real-world backend systems, and learn how production services are developed, tested, and maintained. Production changes and sensitive data updates will be carried out under appropriate review and supervision.

Candidates who demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities, technical growth, ownership, and consistent performance during the internship may be considered for a full-time offer.

Key Responsibilities● Develop, maintain, and update REST APIs used by business applications and internal tools.

● Write and optimize SQL queries to retrieve, insert, update, and manage data in relational databases.

● Ensure API responses accurately reflect stored data and follow established application patterns.

● Implement request validation, appropriate error handling, and consistent API responses.

● Debug backend issues by tracing API requests, reviewing application logs, and investigating database queries.

● Assist in integrating backend services with external partners and third-party APIs using their documentation.

● Write and update tests to verify functionality, reliability, and expected API behavior.

● Document API endpoints, request parameters, responses,



and changes for other developers and teams.

● Use Git and GitHub for version control, branching, code reviews, and cooperative development.

● Explore AI coding tools such as Cursor and Claude to understand existing codebases, develop solutions, and verify code before review.

● Collaborate with senior developers and the broader engineering team to deliver reliable backend solutions.

Required Skills● Strong problem-solving and logical reasoning abilities.

● Working knowledge of backend programming in at least one language, preferably Python.

● Familiarity with FastAPI and Python is preferred. Candidates with Java or Node.js experience are also welcome if they can learn FastAPI quickly.

● Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases, including SELECT, JOIN, INSERT, UPDATE, WHERE clauses, and basic filtering.

● Understanding of REST APIs, HTTP methods, JSON, and request-response cycles.

● Ability to read and understand an existing codebase and follow established coding patterns.

● Basic knowledge of Git and GitHub, including cloning repositories, creating branches, committing changes, and raising pull requests.

● Clear written communication skills, including the ability to explain code changes, API usage, and testing performed.

● Willingness to learn, accept feedback, and work collaboratively with the engineering team.

Good to Have● A personal, academic, or freelance backend project built using FastAPI, Flask, Java, Node.js, or another backend framework.

● Familiarity with MySQL, PostgreSQL, or another relational database.

● Basic understanding of authentication, authorization, and third-party API integrations.

● Experience writing unit tests or integration tests for backend services.

● Exposure to AWS services such as S3 and EC2,



or experience deploying backend applications.

● Familiarity with AI coding tools such as Cursor and Claude.

● An interest in fintech, lending, vehicle financing, or financial technology products.

● A GitHub profile demonstrating practical backend development skills.
