This role is for an experienced ETL Developer and Database Expert to work within the Sonata Product Development team . The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining enterprise-scale data integration solutions, gaining deep knowledge of Sonata services and platform data architecture, and contributing to strategic data engineering initiatives.
The role requires strong expertise in ETL/ELT development, data warehousing, database design, SQL optimization, and data integration frameworks . The candidate will be responsible for designing scalable and high-performance data pipelines, ensuring data quality and governance, and driving database performance improvements across critical business applications. The individual should be capable of providing technical leadership, mentoring development teams, and collaborating with application, analytics, cloud, and DevOps teams to deliver reliable and data-driven solutions.
On occasions the candidate may also be required to work extended hours/weekends to cover changes and release implementations, for example.Ensure development quality standards are met
Own and deliver technically sound solutions for the assigned project (s)
Provide regular updates and reporting to project managers
Highlight risks and issues in a prompt and timely manner and give clear and concise details of resolutions
Ensure performance of Sonata platform is optimised
Impact Analysis for any changes required
Essential Skills / Experience





- Hands-on experience in writing complex SQL queries, query optimization, indexing, and database tuning
- Strong experience with relational databases (Oracle / PostgreSQL / MySQL) and data modeling concepts
- Exposure to DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, build and release automation
- Experience in Java (Core Java, Spring / Spring Boot, RESTful services)
- Hands-on experience integrating Generative AI / LLMs (OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Amazon Bedrock, etc.) into full stack applications using APIs
- Understanding of prompt engineering, embeddings, vector databases, and retrieval augmented generation (RAG) patterns
- Experience with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS / Azure / GCP) and cloud-native services
- Experience using source code management tools such as Git, GitHub, Bitbucket, or GitLab
- Experience with logging, monitoring, and observability tools (ELK, Prometheus, Grafana, etc.)
- Familiarity with NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Redis, Cassandra) and big data concepts
- Flexible attitude with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing setting

Desirable Skills / Experience
Good knowledge of UNIX, Python, Shell Scripting, u-deploy (or similar) and experience of continuous integration
Large scale software product engineering experience with contemporary tools and delivery methods in a complex workplace, i.e. Agile/SAFe, Test Modernization, CI/CD, Cloud Solutions, and DevOps practices.
End to end understanding of distribution data and its lifecycle
Exposure to the Finance/Mutual Fund industry would be an advantage
Expose to big data technologies like Hadoop, Spark, Kafka.
