Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Kubernetes Lead to support the architecture and design of a next-generation platform for a large building-management application.

The current application is a monolithic platform with significant dependency on AWS-native services and has evolved into a tightly coupled architecture. The engagement will assess the current platform, identify architectural constraints, and define a scalable, portable target architecture, with the target environment expected to be primarily on-premises/private cloud.

This is not primarily an application modernization or application-development role. The focus is on platform architecture, Kubernetes, workload architecture, scalability, resiliency, infrastructure portability, and reference architecture design.

The Kubernetes Lead will work closely with a US-based Cloud Architect, a DevOps Architect in India, and customer engineering teams.

Requirements

Required Experience

- 8+ years of infrastructure, platform, or cloud engineering experience.
- 5+ years of hands-on Kubernetes experience in production environments.
- Deep knowledge of Kubernetes architecture, networking, storage, security, scheduling, scaling, and operations.
- Experience designing Kubernetes platforms for enterprise and mission-critical workloads.
- Solid experience with container platforms such as Kubernetes, OpenShift, Tanzu, Rancher, or equivalent.




- Experience designing Kubernetes platforms for on-premises or private-cloud environments.
- Strong understanding of Linux, networking, DNS, load balancing, certificates, and infrastructure security.
- Experience with service meshes, ingress controllers, container registries, secrets management, and observability platforms.
- Understanding of AWS services and common AWS-native architectural patterns.
- Experience identifying and reducing dependencies on cloud-provider-specific services.
- Experience producing architecture diagrams, design documents, standards, and reference architectures.
- Strong troubleshooting and technical-analysis skills.

Preferred Experience

- Experience with building-management systems, IoT platforms, industrial applications, or edge environments.
- Experience with VMware, Nutanix, OpenShift, bare-metal Kubernetes, or private-cloud platforms.
- Experience with highly available and geographically distributed Kubernetes environments.
- Experience supporting migration from public-cloud-native architectures to hybrid or on-premises environments.
- Familiarity with GitOps and infrastructure-as-code practices.
- CNCF Kubernetes certifications such as CKA, CKAD, or CKS.
