Ferva Health
India
Ferva Health is a pre-seed, pre-revenue startup founded in 2026. We are building the patient engagement layer for IVF and fertility clinics. The patient app is live on the iOS App and Google Play Stores, and the clinic portal and backend are built. We are in active conversations with fertility clinics in India, with a US expansion planned later.
Role Description You will be the technical owner of Ferva patient mobile app and clinic portal that help IVF clinics reduce patient dropout, improve medication adherence and keep clinical communication in one place. You will report directly to the founder and work alongside an external development partner, whose output you will review and eventually reduce your reliance on.
In the first 6-12 months you will:
- Own the backend, APIs and data model (Node.js, PostgreSQL) and the AWS infrastructure, including cost and reliability
- Set engineering standards: code review, CI/CD, environments, monitoring and release process for the iOS and Android apps
- Provide technical oversight of the external development partner: scoping, estimates, quality and delivery
- Build the security and compliance foundations: access control, audit logging, encryption and consent handling aligned with India's DPDP Act and ART Act, with HIPAA readiness for the US
- Run patient messaging channels (SMS and WhatsApp via Twilio) and in-app messaging reliably at clinic scale
- Lead integrations with clinic systems (EMR or HIS) so Ferva complements, not replaces, the clinical record
- Support live clinic deployments: onboarding, bug triage, and instrumentation that shows adherence and engagement
- Scope Phase 2 AI features for clinic staff (for example message triage), using de-identified data only
Qualifications
Required
- 5+ years building and running production backend systems, with at least one product shipped end to end
- Strong Node.js (or comparable) and PostgreSQL; hands-on AWS experience (RDS, networking, deployment)
- Experience designing APIs consumed by mobile apps, and releasing iOS and Android builds
- Sound security practice: authentication, authorisation, encryption, secrets handling, audit trails
- Ability to read and review other teams' code and hold an external partner to a standard
- Comfortable as the only in-house engineer: you scope, decide and ship without a large team around you
Solid advantages
- Experience with healthcare or other regulated data (DPDP, HIPAA, ISO 27001 or SOC 2 work)
- EMR or HIS integration experience, including HL7 or FHIR
- Experience with Twilio, WhatsApp Business API or other messaging infrastructure
- Practical use of LLM APIs, with an understanding of de-identification and data-handling limits
- Prior early-stage startup experience
