Hardware Engineer – IoT & Embedded SystemsCompany: Beckkon Systems Pvt. Ltd.

Location: Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India

Employment Type: Full-time, On-site

Department: Hardware Engineering

About Beckkon SystemsBeckkon Systems is an IIT (BHU)-incubated technology startup building a real-time presence intelligence platform powered by Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), IoT, and distributed sensing infrastructure.

Our solutions help schools, campuses, and enterprises improve safety, automate attendance, and gain real-time operational visibility through connected devices and location intelligence. Our technology ecosystem combines smart ID cards, IoT gateways, embedded electronics, cloud infrastructure, and analytics to enable scalable tracking and monitoring.

We are building the hardware and software infrastructure that makes real-time presence intelligence possible.

Role OverviewWe are looking for a hands-on Hardware Engineer – IoT & Embedded Systems to design, develop, prototype, and validate the electronic hardware behind Beckkon’s connected devices and gateway infrastructure.

You will work across the hardware development lifecycle, from component selection and schematic design to PCB layout, prototype bring-up, debugging, and functional testing. You will collaborate closely with firmware, software, and product teams to ensure that our devices are reliable, power-efficient, manufacturable, and ready for deployment in real-world environments.

This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving practical electronics problems and taking hardware products from design to working prototypes and field-ready systems.

Key Responsibilities1. Circuit & PCB Design

- Design and review electronic circuits, schematics, and PCB layouts for IoT devices, smart ID cards, and gateways.
- Select suitable electronic components based on performance, power consumption, availability, cost, and reliability.
- Work with PCB design tools such as KiCad, Altium Designer, or equivalent EDA software.
- Review PCB layouts for signal integrity, power distribution, grounding, RF considerations, and manufacturability.

2. Embedded Hardware & RF Systems

- Develop and integrate hardware based on microcontrollers, BLE modules, and other wireless communication technologies.
- Work with low-power embedded devices, battery-powered electronics, and power-management circuits.

- Support the integration of communication interfaces such as UART, SPI, I²C, GPIO, BLE, and other relevant RF technologies.
- Assist in antenna integration, wireless performance evaluation, and troubleshooting communication issues.

3. Prototyping, Testing & Debugging

- Assemble, bring up, and validate electronic prototypes and PCB assemblies.
- Perform continuity checks, power-rail verification, component-level inspection, and functional testing.
- Use laboratory instruments and debugging tools such as digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and J-Link debug probes, as applicable.
- Investigate hardware failures, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Develop structured hardware test procedures and document test results.

4. Product Validation & Reliability

- Validate hardware performance under different operating conditions, including power consumption, wireless communication, and environmental factors.
- Support battery-life estimation, low-power optimization, and reliability testing.
- Assist with hardware integration, firmware debugging, and system-level testing.
- Support design improvements for production readiness, assembly quality, and field reliability.

5. Documentation & Cross-functional Collaboration

- Maintain schematics, PCB files, bills of materials (BOMs), test reports, and hardware specifications.
- Coordinate with PCB manufacturers, component suppliers, assembly partners, and testing laboratories.
- Work with firmware, software, and product teams to resolve integration issues.
- Contribute to design reviews, engineering decisions, and continuous product improvement.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Strong fundamentals in analog and digital electronics, circuit analysis, and electronic components.
- Practical understanding of schematic design, PCB layout, component selection, and hardware debugging.

- Familiarity with microcontrollers, embedded hardware, and common communication interfaces.
- Understanding of BLE, RF fundamentals, or other wireless communication technologies.
- Ability to use electronic test and measurement equipment for troubleshooting and validation.
- A practical, problem-solving mindset and willingness to work hands-on with prototypes and electronic assemblies.
- Ability to work full-time on-site in Varanasi and collaborate with a multidisciplinary engineering team.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing IoT devices, wireless sensor nodes, BLE beacons, smart tags, tracking devices, or communication gateways.
- Familiarity with low-power design, battery-operated products, power optimization, and battery-life estimation.
- Experience with PCB bring-up, board-level debugging, soldering, rework, and functional testing.
- Exposure to RF layout, antenna matching, wireless range testing, or BLE performance testing.
- Familiarity with STM32, Nordic Semiconductor, Dialog/Renesas, ESP32, or similar embedded platforms.
- Experience using J-Link or equivalent debugging/programming tools.
- Knowledge of DFM/DFT, BOM optimization, component sourcing, and electronics manufacturing.
- Experience taking a hardware prototype through validation and preparing it for pilot deployment.

What You Will Work On
- BLE-enabled smart ID cards and low-power wireless devices.
- IoT gateways and distributed sensing infrastructure.
- Wireless communication and hardware integration for real-time presence intelligence.
- PCB functional testing, prototype validation, power optimization, and product reliability.
- Hardware development for scalable deployments across schools, campuses, and enterprise environments.

What We Offer
