Experience: 3–6 years in technical project management or software delivery
About General Tech Works
General Tech Works builds custom software, enterprise applications, web and mobile products, AI-powered systems, integrations and SaaS platforms.
We work across the complete software lifecycle—from understanding business problems and defining requirements to engineering, testing, deployment and ongoing improvement.
We are looking for a technically strong Project Manager who can help us make software delivery more predictable, transparent and scalable.
About the Role
You will own day-to-day project coordination and delivery operations across a portfolio of software projects. You will work closely with the founder, developers, technical leads, QA and clients to ensure that commitments are understood, work is prioritised, blockers are resolved and progress is visible.
Strong hands-on knowledge of Zoho Sprints is essential. You should understand how to configure and operate a practical project management workflow, not merely have used the tool to update task statuses.
This role requires genuine technical understanding. You must be comfortable discussing APIs, databases, frontend and backend development, mobile applications, third-party integrations, cloud deployments, testing and release management.
You will not be expected to write production code, but you must be able to understand engineering discussions, question estimates, identify dependencies and recognise delivery risks.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Planning & Delivery
- Manage multiple software projects from planning through development, QA, deployment and post-release support.
- Maintain project scope, milestones, dependencies, delivery plans and risk registers.
- Break requirements into epics, user stories, tasks, bugs and deliverable-based milestones.
- Coordinate sprint planning, daily progress, reviews, retrospectives and release planning where appropriate.
- Work with technical owners to establish realistic estimates and delivery commitments.
- Monitor progress and identify schedule slippage before it affects client commitments.
- Ensure that incomplete requirements, dependencies and decisions are resolved promptly.
- Maintain clear ownership and next actions for every significant delivery risk.
2. Zoho Sprints Ownership
- Configure and administer projects, teams, workflows, work-item types, fields, priorities and boards.
- Structure epics, backlogs, user stories, tasks, issues, sprints and releases appropriately.
- Facilitate backlog refinement and sprint planning with technical teams.
- Ensure work items have clear descriptions, acceptance criteria, ownership and appropriate estimates.
- Monitor blocked work, carryovers,
work in progress and sprint commitments.
- Use available reports to understand delivery trends, bottlenecks, cycle time and workload.
- Establish consistent project templates and lightweight operating standards.
- Improve adoption of Zoho Sprints without creating unnecessary administrative overhead.
- Maintain useful documentation and reporting while avoiding duplicate task trackers.
- Identify automation and integrations that can reduce repetitive project administration.
3. Technical Project Understanding
- Understand the lifecycle of web, mobile, backend, API and SaaS development projects.
- Coordinate frontend, backend, mobile, design, QA, DevOps and external service dependencies.
- Understand REST APIs, authentication, databases, payment gateways, third-party integrations, CI/CD and cloud deployment at a project-management level.
- Identify technical dependencies, ambiguous requirements, integration risks and unplanned work.
- Facilitate discussions between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ensure testing, security considerations, staging validation, release planning and production checks are included in delivery plans.
- Escalate architectural or engineering decisions to the appropriate technical owner.
4. Client & Stakeholder Management
- Run project kick-offs, requirement discussions, demonstrations and delivery reviews.
- Prepare clear status updates covering completed work, upcoming milestones, blockers, risks and decisions required.
- Maintain records of client approvals, requirements and scope changes.
- Ensure new requests are assessed for impact before entering active development.
- Coordinate UAT, feedback collection, acceptance and handover.
- Communicate risks early and professionally, without making unsupported delivery promises.
5. Process Improvement & Reporting
- Build a reliable overview of all active projects and their delivery health.
- Establish weekly delivery reporting and escalation procedures.
- Identify recurring causes of delays, excessive rework, unclear requirements and testing gaps.
- Improve estimation, work allocation, handovers and release coordination.
- Help engineering teams protect focus time and reduce unnecessary context switching.
- Keep processes proportionate to project size and team maturity.
Required Qualifications
- 3–6 years of experience in technical project management, software delivery or engineering coordination.
- Demonstrable, hands-on experience with Zoho Sprints.
- Strong understanding of Agile, Scrum and Kanban, including when each approach is appropriate.
- Experience managing web or mobile software projects involving multiple technical dependencies.
- Ability to translate business requirements into structured and testable work items.
- Strong written communication, planning, prioritisation and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects without losing sight of critical dependencies.
- Comfort working with developers and challenging unclear estimates constructively.
- Robust documentation and reporting discipline.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with React, Next.js, Node.js, React Native or similar technology stacks.
- Exposure to AI integrations, SaaS platforms, payment gateways, APIs and enterprise systems.
- Experience with Git-based workflows, staging and production environments, QA processes and release management.
- Experience managing agency or software-services delivery across several clients.
- Experience with automation, integrations and reporting within the Zoho ecosystem.
What We Are Not Looking For
- A non-technical coordinator who only schedules meetings and chases updates.
- Someone who has only watched Zoho Sprints tutorials but cannot demonstrate real usage.
- A manager who introduces process changes before understanding the existing workflow.
- Someone who commits to deadlines without consulting the engineering team.
- A task administrator who measures performance by the number of tickets closed.
First 30-Day Outcomes
- Understand all active projects, current commitments and delivery risks.
- Establish a reliable, verified view of project status.
- Configure and pilot a practical Zoho Sprints workflow.
- Create a consistent method for managing scope changes, blockers and release readiness.
- Deliver a concise weekly portfolio report to the founder.
- Propose a phased improvement plan based on observed problems rather than assumptions.
To Apply Please submit your CV and briefly answer the following:
1. How have you used Zoho Sprints in an actual software project?
2. What was the most technically complex project you managed?
3. How do you handle a sprint where critical work is blocked by an external API or backend dependency?
4. How do you protect an engineering team from frequent client scope changes?
5. What project delivery metrics do you consider useful, and which do you avoid?
