READ THIS FIRST — THREE DATES THAT CANNOT MOVE
- In-person interview: 20–30 November 2026, at our Bengaluru office.
- Applications close: 15 November 2026. We interview on a rolling basis and may close early once the position is filled.
- Joining date: 1 December 2026. Non-negotiable.
You must be free of notice period obligations by 1 December. If you are currently serving a 60 or 90-day notice, the timing will not work and we cannot make an exception.
WHO WE ARE
Jane Aerospace is a Bengaluru-based aerospace and drone supply chain company. We source aircraft parts, drone components and industrial materials for operators, MROs and manufacturers, and we are building Supply Chain as a Service, a subscription model that takes over procurement for our clients.
We operate three legal entities in three jurisdictions — Jane Aerospace Pvt Ltd (India), Jane Tech Labs Ltd (Hong Kong) and Jane Aero Tech Supply Chain FZCO (UAE) — in three currencies, with imports and exports.
We are bootstrapped. No outside funding, and none being sought. Cash Flow is the constraint that governs everything we do, which is why this role matters more here than the same title would elsewhere.
THE ROLE
Today nobody owns the group's books. The work is absorbed by the Managing Director and by external accountants engaged entity by entity. You would be the first finance hire, and you would own all three sets of books end to end.
Three things make this different from most accountant roles at this level:
You see all of it. Three entities, three currencies, imports and customs, two overseas jurisdictions. Most accountants at two to five years see a slice of one company.
You tell the founder whether the company is stable. Not once a quarter — every week. The cash runway number you produce on a Monday is one of the most important numbers in the business.
You own the compliance calendar across three countries. You will not file overseas returns yourself, but nothing gets missed unless you miss it.
ONE THING WE WANT TO BE HONEST ABOUT
Around one day a week of this role is administration — office upkeep, and support to the Managing Director including travel and calendar. It is genuinely part of the job and we would rather say so now than surprise you in month two.
The split is 80% finance, 20% admin, and it is written down for a reason: when the two collide, finance wins. A month-end close has a date; admin always feels more urgent than it is. If you are the kind of person who lets the visible task push out the important one, this role will go badly for you.
WHAT YOU WILL ACTUALLY DO The books — the core of the role
- Maintain all three entities' books in Zoho Books: recorded daily, closed monthly, reconciled to bank and to source documents.
- Accounts payable and receivable across the group, including vendor and customer ledgers.
- Bank, cash, card and foreign exchange reconciliation, including exchange differences on foreign-currency transactions.
- Import documentation and landed cost — customs duty, freight and clearing charges correctly allocated.
- Document and evidence control,
so any transaction can be traced to its paperwork without a search.
Telling us where we stand
- Weekly: cash position and a rolling 13-week cash forecast. Receivables and payables ageing. The runway number.
- Monthly: close pack per entity — trial balance, profit and loss, balance sheet, cash position — plus a consolidated group view and working-capital metrics.
- Quarterly: profitability by entity and by business line, trend commentary, and anything you think the Managing Director is not seeing.
That last item is not decoration. You will see things in the numbers before anyone else does, and we expect you to say so. Compliance — you own the calendar, the CA files
- Prepare GST and TDS working papers, computations and returns for India; VAT working papers for the UAE; schedules for the Hong Kong audit.
- Review everything before it goes to the CA team, and follow up until it is filed. You are the person who knows what is due and when.
- Work with the retained firms in each jurisdiction through audit and assessment, and give them what they ask for first time.
Administration — about one day a week
- Small bills and office running costs — utilities, supplies, service vendors. You prepare and process them; the Managing Director approves and releases, exactly as with every other payment.
- Travel: flight and hotel bookings, itineraries, and the expense claims that follow.
- Bank errands — deposits, documentation, KYC paperwork, and anything that needs someone physically at the branch.
- General office upkeep, supplies and visitors.
WHAT THIS ROLE IS NOT
- You do not approve or release payments. You prepare; the Managing Director approves and releases. This protects you as much as it protects us.
- You do not file overseas returns. Hong Kong audits are legally reserved to a practising CPA there, and the UAE requires a registered tax agent. We retain firms for both.
- You are not a CFO, and we will not pretend otherwise. Financial strategy sits with the Managing Director. What we need from you is accurate books and an honest forward view of cash.
- You do not buy anything significant. Equipment, inventory and supplier purchases sit with the procurement team. Your admin work is small bills, travel and bank errands — nothing that involves choosing a supplier or committing material money.
Requirements
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- 2 to 5 years in accounting, with real ownership of a set of books — not one slice of a large finance team.
- You have closed a month end yourself: done the reconciliation, found the difference, and fixed it.
- Working knowledge of Indian GST and TDS, including preparing returns.
- Comfortable in Excel or Google Sheets to a working standard — you will build the cash forecast yourself.
- Zoho Books or a comparable system. If you have not used Zoho Books, say so; it is learnable.
- Genuine care about accuracy. In this role a quiet mistake is worse than a loud one.
- Willing to do the admin portion properly rather than resentfully — it is small bills, travel bookings and bank errands, not procurement, and it is about one day a week.
Nice to have, not required: multi-entity, multi-currency or foreign-exchange accounting exposure; import, export, customs documentation or landed-cost accounting; CA or CMA, qualified or Inter; experience working alongside external auditors. PLEASE DO NOT APPLY IF
We mean this sincerely — it saves everyone time.
- You cannot attend an in-person interview in Bengaluru between 20 and 30 November 2026.
- You cannot join on 1 December 2026, for any reason, including notice period.
- You are not in Bengaluru and are not willing to relocate here at your own arrangement before joining.
- You are looking for a work-from-home or hybrid role. This is fully work from office.
- You consider administrative work beneath you. Booking a flight and going to the bank are part of this job.
- Your experience is a narrow slice of a large finance team and you have never owned a close.
- You want to specialise only in audit or only in taxation. This is a hands-on books role first.
Benefits
WHAT YOU GET PAID Rs 40,000 to Rs 65,000 per month CTC (Rs 4.8–7.8 lakh per annum), depending on experience and on what you can demonstrate in the assessment. CTC means cost to company; your in-hand figure will be lower after statutory deductions, and we will show you the exact breakdown at offer stage.
- Compensation reviewed formally at six months and at twelve months, against evidence.
- Support for CA or CMA (Inter) study for the right person, on terms we agree openly.
- PF/ESI as per statute.
The real compensation here is the exposure. Three jurisdictions, full ownership of the books, and direct access to the founder every week. At two to five years, very few finance roles offer that.
OUR HIRING PROCESS
1. Application — a short set of questions. Please answer them properly; one-line answers get filtered out.
2. Practical accounting test — online, timed, 90 minutes. A real reconciliation with real errors in it, treatment judgement, a cash forecast you build, and a few judgement questions. Monitored, copy-paste disabled, AI assistance detectable — please do not use it.
3. Video interview — a short recorded round, including a question about one of your own answers from the test.
4. In-person with the Managing Director — at our Bengaluru office, 20–30 November.
We make offers on a rolling basis. If you are solid, you will hear from us quickly.
