Senior Accountant - Job Description

Position : Senior Accountant Department : Accounts & Finance Reports To : Finance Manager / Director

Job Summary

The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing the organization's accounting operations, financial reporting, taxation, compliance, budgeting support, and ensuring accurate maintenance of financial records. The role requires strong knowledge of accounting principles, statutory compliance, and financial analysis.

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Accounting & Reporting

- Maintain accurate books of accounts and general ledger.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Reconcile bank accounts, vendor accounts, and customer accounts.
- Monitor cash flow and prepare cash flow reports.
- Ensure timely month-end and year-end closing.

2. Taxation & Compliance

- Manage GST, TDS, Professional Tax, and other statutory compliances.
- Prepare and file GST returns, TDS returns, and other regulatory filings.
- Coordinate with auditors, tax consultants, and government authorities.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulations.

3. Accounts Payable & Receivable

- Review and approve vendor payments.
- Monitor receivables and follow up on outstanding payments.
- Verify invoices, purchase orders, and payment vouchers.
- Manage customer billing and collections.

4. Budgeting & Financial Analysis

- Assist in annual budgeting and forecasting.
- Analyze financial performance and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Prepare MIS reports and management dashboards.




- Support management with financial insights for decision-making.

5. Audit & Internal Controls

- Coordinate internal and statutory audits.
- Maintain documentation required for audits.
- Implement and monitor internal financial controls.
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data.

6. Team Management

- Supervise junior accountants and accounts assistants.
- Review accounting entries and financial transactions.
- Train and mentor team members on accounting procedures.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's Degree in Commerce (B.Com), Finance, or Accounting.
- CA Inter / CMA Inter / M.Com preferred.
- 5-10 years of experience in accounting and finance.

Required Skills :

- Strong knowledge of GST, TDS, Income Tax, and statutory compliance.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as Tally Prime, ERP systems, SAP, or Zoho Books.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Solid analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Preferred Experience (For Consulting/Architecture Firms)

- Experience in project accounting and consultancy billing.
- Knowledge of government tenders, EMDs, BGs, and contract management.
- Experience in handling multi-location accounts and project-wise profitability tracking.
- Familiarity with MSME compliance and vendor management.

Pay: ₹14,261.00 - ₹45,338.67 per month
