Image Operations Lead

About the work
Suntek.AI runs end-to-end product image operations for ecommerce brands, including a premium US home furnishings and rugs retailer with thousands of SKUs across furniture, lighting, rugs and dcor. Every image passes through our pipeline: retouching, background replacement, upscaling, AI generation, framing, QC and upload. Volumes are high, timelines are tight, and any error goes straight onto a live storefront.

The role
We're looking for someone who has run image operations at marketplace scale and knows that retouching skill is only half the job. You will design the process, build the QC system, write the SOPs and run execution so that large volumes ship on time with zero defects reaching the client. You will lead the image team and own AI image generation as a core part of the workflow.

What you'll do

Design the process

- Build and own the end-to-end image workflow: intake, asset audit, task allocation, editing, AI generation, QC, naming, collation and upload.
- Define image standards and style guides per client and per channel (Shopify, Amazon, Walmart and similar), covering backgrounds, framing, aspect ratios, file specs and compliance rules.
- Plan capacity and turnaround commitments, and size the team and tooling to match volume.

Build and run QC

- Design a multi-stage QC process: maker-checker review, sampling plans for large batches, checklists and defect categories.
- Set up QC built specifically for AI outputs, covering artefacts, product distortion, colour drift, cut-off edges and fabric or texture accuracy.
- Track defect and rework rates, run root-cause analysis on every error that reaches the client, and close the loop in the SOPs.

Write and enforce SOPs

- Document every recurring task as an SOP that a new team member can follow from day one.
- Keep SOPs, prompt libraries and reference assets current as tools and client requirements change.

Execute at volume without fail

- Run daily execution across thousands of images per batch, hitting turnaround and quality targets together.




- Handle priority changes, escalations and last-minute requests without letting standards slip.
- Maintain trackers and dashboards that show status, throughput and quality at a glance.

Own AI image generation

- Run AI upscaling, background replacement and generation, and generative tools for lifestyle, colourway and fabric visualisation in production.
- Build and maintain prompt templates and reference sets; evaluate new models and decide what goes into production.
- Work with our automation team on scripts and AI-based QC checkers.

Lead the team and the client relationship

- Lead, hire and train retouchers and image editors.
- Act as the client's point of contact for image operations: shoot briefs, missing assets, feedback and priorities.

What you bring

- 7 to 10 years in ecommerce image operations, with significant time at a marketplace or large online retailer such as Amazon, Flipkart, Walmart, Myntra or similar.
- A proven record of designing image workflows, QC frameworks and SOPs from scratch and running them at high volume.
- A track record of delivering large-volume work on time with near-zero defects. Be ready to share your numbers.
- Robust hands-on retouching and editing skills in Photoshop: masking, colour correction, shadows, background work and batch actions.
- Production experience with AI image generation and editing tools (for example Nano Banana, Seedream, Firefly, Midjourney, AI upscalers and background tools), beyond experimentation.
- Working knowledge of marketplace image guidelines and catalog compliance.
- Experience leading teams and managing stakeholders, including international clients.

Nice to have

- Home furnishings, rugs or fashion imagery.
- Comfort with scripts and automation tools, or experience working closely with developers.
- Experience managing images on Shopify.

How we'll measure success

- Throughput against target and turnaround on every batch.
- Defects reaching the client, with a target of zero.
- First-pass QC acceptance and rework rate, including on AI outputs.
- SOP coverage, and how quickly a new team member becomes productive.
