About the role
You will review German-language documents submitted with insurance applications, both handwritten and typed. You will read and understand each document, pull out the information that matters for underwriting, and send it to the right medical review queue. Accurate triage means underwriters and medical reviewers get complete, correctly sorted files, and applicants get decisions sooner. Requirements
• German at C1 certified. Accepted certificates: Goethe-Zertifikat, telc Deutsch, ÖSD, TestDaF or DSH, or equivalent. Native speakers are also welcome.
• Solid reading, writing and speaking skills in German, including different handwriting styles and older form layouts.
• Attention to detail, with a track record of accurate work in high-volume document handling.
• Able to work to clear rules and procedures while spotting cases that don't fit them.
• Comfortable with digital tools: document management and workflow/queue systems, Microsoft Office. Preferred
• German at C1 or C2, or a native speaker.
• Experience in insurance,



healthcare administration or medical translation.
• Familiar with German medical terms and abbreviations (e.g. Z.n., V.a., o.
B.) and ICD-10 coding.
• Experience with GDPR-regulated or other sensitive personal

Key responsibilities
• Review documents in German, including handwritten and typed application forms, health questionnaires (Gesundheitsfragen), doctors' reports (Arztberichte), discharge letters (Entlassungsberichte) and supporting correspondence.
• Read handwritten forms accurately, including unclear handwriting, abbreviations, crossed-out answers and notes in the margins.
• Pull out the key underwriting details: declared conditions, diagnoses, medications, treatment dates, hospital stays and disclosures.
• Sort each case into the correct medical review queue against the defined triage criteria, e.g. [cardiovascular, oncology, mental health, musculoskeletal, no medical review required].
• Flag files that are incomplete, contradictory or can't be read, and ask for clarification or more documents through the agreed process.
• Record short English summaries or translations of key content in [system name] when underwriters or medical reviewers need them.
• Hit turnaround and quality targets for volume, accuracy and service levels.
• Handle health data confidentially and in line with GDPR (health data is a special category under Art. 9) and company data protection policies.
• Suggest improvements to triage rules, queue definitions and glossaries when you spot recurring issues.
