Lead / Senior Power BI Data Analyst

Location: Anywhere in India; Nagpur preferred

We are looking for an experienced Lead / Senior Power BI Data Analyst with strong expertise in Power BI, data modeling, database schemas, and backend data systems. The ideal candidate should be comfortable owning BI solutions end-to-end—from understanding business requirements and designing data models to developing dashboards, optimizing queries, and working closely with backend/data engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and maintain sophisticated Power BI dashboards and reports for business and operational analytics.
- Build scalable and well-structured data models, schemas, relationships, and semantic layers.
- Develop complex calculations using DAX, Power Query, and M.
- Work extensively with SQL databases, data warehouses, APIs, and backend data sources.
- Write and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and transformations.
- Understand source systems and translate raw data into reliable reporting datasets.
- Develop efficient ETL/ELT pipelines and collaborate with data engineering/backend teams.
- Ensure dashboard performance, data accuracy, consistency, and scalability.
- Implement appropriate Row-Level Security (RLS), user permissions, and data-access controls.
- Troubleshoot data discrepancies and perform root-cause analysis across frontend reports and backend systems.
- Define Power BI development standards, naming conventions, documentation, and deployment practices.
- Lead dashboard architecture and technical design reviews.




- Mentor junior analysts and Power BI developers.
- Work directly with business stakeholders to understand KPIs and translate requirements into actionable analytics.
- Manage deployment across development, test, and production environments.

Required Skills Power BI expertise is mandatory.

Candidates should have strong hands-on experience with:

- 5+ years of experience in BI, data analytics, or related roles
- Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service
- Advanced DAX
- Power Query / M
- Data modeling and dimensional modeling
- Excellent communicator and can take ownership to lead a team.
- Star and snowflake schemas
- SQL and relational databases
- Database design and backend data structures
- ETL/ELT concepts
- Data warehouses and data marts
- Performance optimization
- Power BI Gateway
- Row-Level Security
- Data validation and reconciliation
- APIs and multiple data-source integrations

Experience with technologies such as SQL Server, Azure SQL, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, or similar platforms is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience leading Power BI or BI development projects
- Experience working with large datasets and enterprise applications
- Robust understanding of backend/database architecture
- Experience building executive and operational dashboards
- Microsoft Power BI a plus
- Experience mentoring or managing junior BI developers
- Ability to communicate directly with U.S. or international stakeholders
- Candidates based in Nagpur are strongly preferred, although qualified candidates from anywhere in India are encouraged to apply.
