Role Network Security Engineer L2 (Managed Security Services / MSSP)

Experience 4+ years in network security operations,
preferably in an MSSP or managed services setup

About the role

You will be part of Mitigata's MSSP team, delivering managed network security services to customers.
The role owns administration of Cisco Firepower, switching, routing, Meraki APs, Umbrella DNS and Duo
MFA, and works closely with the SOC and PAM teams.

Key responsibilities
Firewall operations: Administer Cisco Firepower; review, create and modify rules; implement
security policies; monitor firewall health; run periodic policy optimisation.
VPN and remote access: Configure VPNs, manage user access, administer policies and
troubleshoot connectivity.
Switching and routing: Administer Cisco switches and Cisco, Nokia and Ciena routers; configure
new devices; apply hardening controls; manage ports and configuration backups.
Meraki AP and Umbrella: Manage Meraki AP onboarding, firmware and device health; maintain
Umbrella DNS policies, web filtering and app controls.
Patching and vendor support: Plan and apply device updates and patches; raise and close Cisco
TAC cases; close tickets in the ticketing portal.
Reporting and SOPs: Produce monthly firewall policy and change reviews and device status
reports; write and maintain SOPs for all firewall, switch and router activities.




Coordination: Support PAM integrations with network devices and feed network logs into the
SIEM for SOC monitoring.

Technical skills
Must have Cisco firewall: Hands-on Cisco Firepower (FMC/FTD) and ASA; rule and NAT policy
management, SSL VPN and IPsec VPN, security profiles, URL filtering, HA pairs, and upgrades.
Must have Cisco switching and routing: Cisco IOS/IOS-XE/NX-OS; VLANs, trunking, STP,
Ether Channel, port security, and stacking; static routing, OSPF, BGP, HSRP/VRRP, ACLs, and route
redistribution.
Must have Networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, subnetting, DNS, DHCP, NAT, QoS basics, IPsec
site-to-site and remote-access VPN, and packet capture with Wireshark or tcpdump.
Must have Operations: Device hardening, configuration backup and compliance,
SNMP/Net Flow monitoring, and ITIL incident, change and problem processes in an MSSP
ticketing setup.
Good to have: Cisco Duo MFA, Cisco Meraki APs, Cisco Umbrella, Nokia or Ciena routers,
SD-WAN, Beyond Trust PAM integration, syslog forwarding to a SIEM, and exposure to ISO 27001
audits and regulatory security compliance.

Qualifications and requirements
B.E./B. Tech or equivalent in CS, IT or Electronics.
CCNA required; CCNP Security or a Firepower certification preferred.
Transparent written English for incident updates, RCA reports and SOPs.
