Job Description:
The Technician-Microbiology will be responsible for performing a variety of laboratory procedures related to the analysis and testing of microbiological samples. This role involves collecting samples, preparing cultures, conducting tests, and interpreting results in accordance with established protocols. The technician will also maintain laboratory equipment, ensure compliance with safety and quality standards, and assist in research projects as needed. Effective communication and collaboration with other healthcare professionals are essential to ensure accurate diagnosis and treatment plans.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect and prepare microbiological samples for analysis.
- Conduct microbiological tests on various specimens such as blood, urine, swabs, and other samples.
- Interpret test results and document findings accurately.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure proper calibration and functionality.
- Follow standard operating procedures and adhere to safety regulations in the laboratory workplace.
- Collaborate with other healthcare team members to discuss findings and contribute to patient care decisions.
- Assist in maintaining inventory and ordering laboratory supplies.
- Participate in quality control and assurance processes to uphold laboratory standards.
