Job Summary

The Commis Chef – Pastry will assist the senior chefs in preparing desserts, pastries, cakes, and other bakery products while maintaining the restaurant's standards of food quality, presentation, hygiene, and consistency.

This position is suitable for candidates who are passionate about pastry and bakery, eager to learn, and interested in developing their culinary careers in a qualified restaurant environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist in preparing pastries, cakes, cookies, tarts, mousses, desserts, and other bakery products.
- Support the preparation of ingredients, including weighing, measuring, mixing, and portioning.
- Follow recipes and instructions provided by the CDP, Sous Chef, or Head Chef.
- Assist with baking, decorating, plating, and presenting desserts.
- Maintain consistency in taste, texture, portion size, and presentation.
- Ensure proper storage, labelling, and handling of ingredients and prepared products.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the pastry kitchen and workstations.
- Follow food safety and sanitation procedures at all times.
- Ensure kitchen equipment and tools are properly cleaned and maintained.
- Assist with stock rotation and minimise food wastage.
- Prepare ingredients and mise en place before service.




- Work collaboratively with the pastry team and other kitchen departments.
- Be willing to learn new techniques and improve pastry-making skills.

Candidate Requirements

- Freshers with relevant culinary training or candidates with 0–2 years of experience in pastry and bakery may apply.
- A certificate, diploma, or degree in Hotel Management, Bakery, or Pastry Arts is preferred but not mandatory.
- Basic knowledge of baking techniques and dessert preparation is an advantage.
- Willingness to learn, follow instructions, and work as part of a team.
- Good discipline, time management, and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of food hygiene and kitchen safety.
- Local candidates from Meghalaya will be given preference.
- Outstation candidates must be willing to relocate to Meghalaya and commit to a long-term position.
