About the job : Complyance is a fast-growing e-invoicing and tax compliance SaaS company. Through a single API, we help businesses meet e-invoicing mandates across markets, including the UAE and Saudi Arabia’s ZATCA requirements, without rebuilding their finance systems every time a regulation changes. We have built a strong base in MENA and India, our platform is live across 10+ jurisdictions, and we are now expanding into Europe and the US. We are building a developer-first e-invoicing platform for businesses, enterprises and ecosystem partners: secure, dependable APIs and integrations, with an exceptional developer and customer experience. Life at Complyance : We are a lean, high-ownership team that cares about doing the basics exceptionally well. Our work is visible, our decisions matter, and we are looking for people who want to shape how a company grows, not just keep it running. The mission : This is not a role for managing from the sidelines. You will be the hands-on engineering leader who shapes our technology platform, builds a high-performing team and sets the engineering practices needed to scale a regulated, transaction-focused SaaS business. You will report to the CTO and work closely with the founders and product leadership, with direct influence over product architecture, engineering culture and team formation. You will stay technically engaged: in architecture reviews, design discussions and the critical technical decisions. Where you’ll leave your mark :
• Set the engineering direction: Own engineering strategy and execution for our e-invoicing platform, including the technical roadmap, architecture decisions and the management of technical debt.
• Build APIs people trust: Own the architecture and delivery of secure, scalable APIs, SDKs, webhooks and enterprise integrations,
and the developer experience around them.
• Keep the platform reliable: Own reliability, availability, observability, security and production operations.
• Grow the team: Lead engineering hiring, mentoring, performance and team development.
• Raise the engineering bar: Run the practices that keep quality high: design reviews, testing, releases, incident response and postmortems.
• Work across the business: Collaborate with product, customer success, implementation, compliance and enterprise customers. The kind of leader we’re looking for : You’ll likely thrive in this role if you:
• Have 8–12 years of software engineering experience, including experience leading engineering teams.
• Have a strong background in backend engineering, distributed systems, cloud platforms and API design.
• Are tech-savvy, with a strong command of advanced technologies and modern engineering tools.
• Have built or operated high-volume, transaction-oriented SaaS platforms.
• Can manage, coach and grow high-performing engineers.
• Know production reliability, observability, incident management and secure software delivery.
• Bring strong product thinking, execution discipline and customer orientation.
• Are comfortable in a fast-moving startup with ambiguity and significant ownership.
• Communicate clearly, in writing and in conversation. And as a person, you:
• Combine people leadership with strong technical judgement.
• Operate with high ownership and low ego.
• Make pragmatic decisions with limited time and resources.
• Move comfortably between architecture, hiring, delivery, customers and production issues.
• Build simple, reliable systems rather than introducing unnecessary complexity.
• Care deeply about API quality, security, documentation and developer experience. Bonus points :
• Experience in payments, fintech, invoicing, tax technology, accounting, ERP or compliance platforms.
• Experience with external APIs, SDKs, webhooks, authentication, rate limiting, versioning, retries and idempotency.
• Experience with multi-tenant SaaS and enterprise integration architecture.
• Experience handling sensitive financial or business information.
• Experience with government, tax-authority, Peppol or other regulated-network integrations.
• Experience at a FAANG company (Facebook/Meta, Amazon, Apple, Netflix or Google), Amazon/AWS, or another high-scale product engineering organisation. This is an added advantage, not a requirement. Why Complyance?
• Competitive base salary. The range will be shared with shortlisted candidates.
• Comprehensive benefits, including health insurance for you and your family and paid time off.
• The chance to build for a category that is being shaped by regulation right now, across some of the fastest-moving e-invoicing markets in the world.
• A lean, cooperative team where your work is visible and your decisions matter.
