About the Role
The Venture Chronicle is seeking a Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain the digital systems that power our publishing platform, content operations, analytics, and internal tools. In this role, you will build backend services, APIs, database integrations, and automation workflows that support reliable content delivery and efficient editorial operations. You will contribute to software architecture, application performance, security, and scalability while collaborating with editorial, research, data, and product teams. The ideal candidate is a technically strong engineer who enjoys building reliable web applications, solving complex problems, and using modern technologies to improve digital products and business workflows.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain backend services, REST APIs, and web application components.
- Build and optimize database schemas, queries, integrations, and data processing workflows.
- Develop scalable systems to support content publishing, editorial collaboration, analytics, and digital content delivery.
- Write clean, modular, reusable,



and well-documented code following established software engineering standards.
- Implement testing, debugging, error handling, logging, and performance optimization practices.
- Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and architectural decisions to maintain software quality.
- Integrate third-party APIs, cloud services, AI tools, analytics platforms, and external data sources.
- Develop automation scripts and internal tools to streamline publishing, research, reporting, and operational workflows.
- Apply security best practices to authentication, authorization, data protection, and application development.
- Support deployment pipelines, CI/CD workflows, production monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Identify opportunities to improve application reliability, scalability, maintainability, and development efficiency.
- Collaborate with editorial and product teams to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, object-oriented programming, and software design principles.
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language, such as Python, Java, TypeScript, or Go.
- Hands-on experience developing backend applications, APIs, and server-side services using relevant frameworks.
- Working knowledge of relational or NoSQL databases, database design, and query optimization.
- Experience with Git, version control, collaborative development, and code review practices.
- Understanding of software testing, debugging, application security,



and performance optimization.
- Familiarity with software architecture, modular development, and maintainable coding practices.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across distributed teams.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and deliver high-quality work in a remote environment. Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with backend frameworks such as Django, FastAPI, Flask, Spring Boot, Express.js, or NestJS.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Microsoft Azure.
- Experience with Docker, containerization, CI/CD pipelines, and automated deployment workflows.
- Knowledge of frontend technologies and full-stack web application development.
- Experience integrating AI APIs, large language models, data extraction tools, or workflow automation platforms.
- Familiarity with content management systems, digital publishing platforms, web analytics, or data pipelines.
- Understanding of caching, application monitoring, distributed systems, and microservices architecture.
- Experience building internal dashboards, reporting tools, or business process automation solutions.
