Qualification: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering

Industry: Data Center EPC / HVAC / MEP

Mandatory Requirement: Prior experience in the data center industry.

1. Role Purpose

To lead end-to-end HVAC tendering and estimation for data center projects, with strong expertise

in engineering calculations, equipment sizing, quantity take-offs, BOQ preparation, rate analysis

and detailed cost estimation. The role requires a sound understanding of HVAC design

engineering and critical cooling infrastructure to develop accurate, competitive and commercially

viable bids aligned with project specifications and performance requirements.

2. Key Responsibilities

• Tendering & Bid Management: Manage the complete HVAC tendering process,

including tender document review, scope assessment, technical clarifications, bid

preparation and timely submission.

• HVAC Estimation & Costing: Prepare detailed cost estimates covering HVAC

equipment, materials, piping, ducting, insulation, installation, manpower, subcontracting,

testing, commissioning, overheads and project margins.

• Quantity Take-Off & BOQ Preparation: Independently calculate quantities from HVAC

drawings, layouts, schematics, equipment schedules and technical specifications;

prepare and validate detailed BOQs.

• HVAC Design & Engineering Calculations: Apply strong mechanical engineering

fundamentals to validate cooling load calculations, equipment capacities, chilled water

flow rates, pump sizing, piping dimensions, duct sizing and other relevant design

parameters.

• Critical Cooling Systems: Estimate and evaluate chillers, CRAH/CRAC units, cooling

towers, pumps, heat exchangers, chilled water piping, ducting, ventilation systems and

associated HVAC controls.

• Drawing & Specification Review: Review HVAC layouts, schematics, piping and





ducting drawings, equipment schedules and tender specifications to identify scope gaps,

design discrepancies, quantity variations and technical risks.

• Rate Analysis & Cost Benchmarking: Prepare item-wise rate analysis, validate

equipment and installation costs, benchmark market rates and identify cost-saving

opportunities.

• Vendor & Subcontractor Evaluation: Obtain and evaluate quotations from OEMs,

vendors and subcontractors; prepare techno-commercial comparison statements and

negotiate competitive rates.

• Technical & Commercial Bid Preparation: Develop BOQs, cost summaries, pricing

schedules, technical submissions, commercial proposals, assumptions, exclusions and

tender clarifications.

• Value Engineering & Risk Assessment: Identify cost optimization opportunities while

maintaining cooling performance, energy efficiency, redundancy, reliability and

compliance with project specifications.

• Cross-Functional Coordination: Coordinate with design, engineering, procurement,

projects and commercial teams to validate quantities, equipment selections, technical

assumptions, installation methodology and project costs.

• Tender Handover: Prepare a comprehensive handover of finalized estimates, BOQs,

vendor quotations, scope assumptions and cost breakdowns to the project execution

team after order finalization.

3. Candidate Profile

• B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.

• 10–15 years of experience in HVAC tendering, estimation and cost engineering, with

mandatory data center industry experience.

• Strong expertise in HVAC quantity take-offs, detailed estimation, BOQ preparation, rate





analysis and cost calculations.

• Sound understanding of HVAC design fundamentals, cooling load calculations,

equipment sizing, piping systems and technical specifications.

• Ability to independently interpret HVAC drawings and validate quantities and technical

calculations rather than relying solely on vendor quotations.

• Experience estimating data center cooling infrastructure, including chillers, CRAH/CRAC

units, chilled water systems and associated HVAC installations.

• Strong understanding of equipment costing, material costs, installation costs, labour

productivity, subcontracting, overheads, contingencies and project margins.

• Proficiency in MS Excel; working knowledge of AutoCAD and HVAC design/drawing

review tools is preferred.

• Experience in vendor negotiations, technical-commercial evaluations, cost benchmarking

and value engineering.

• Solid analytical, numerical, commercial and coordination skills.

4. Preferred Technical Expertise

• Critical Cooling Systems: Chillers, CRAH/CRAC units, cooling towers, pumps, heat

exchangers and chilled water systems.

• HVAC Engineering Calculations: Cooling load estimation, chilled water flow

calculations, pump head and capacity, piping sizing, duct sizing and equipment capacity

validation.

• HVAC Installation: Chilled water piping, ducting, insulation, ventilation, valves, supports

and associated accessories.

• Controls & Integration: HVAC controls, BMS interfaces and coordination with electrical

and other MEP systems.

• Tendering & Estimation: Quantity take-offs, BOQ preparation, detailed rate analysis,

vendor comparisons, cost benchmarking and bid pricing.

• Data Center Requirements: Critical cooling loads, redundancy configurations, system

reliability, energy efficiency and commissioning requirements.

Compensation: 16–18 LPA, depending on experience and suitability.

Work Location: Sewri, Mumbai | 6 working days per week.
