1. Role Purpose
Own the maintenance performance and reliability of the assigned tool(s) or section of the TOPCon cell line. Ensure safe, smooth and uninterrupted operation through timely preventive and breakdown maintenance, rapid fault resolution and disciplined documentation, to maximize equipment availability and minimize unplanned downtime.
2. Key Responsibilities
- Own the daily health and availability of the assigned tool(s) or section, including associated process and utility equipment, through routine checks and inspections.
- Respond promptly to alarms, breakdowns and abnormal equipment behavior, and restore equipment to service with minimum delay.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical and instrumentation faults; identify and record root cause for every breakdown and track corrective actions.
- Coordinate with Production to plan and minimize downtime during breakdowns and maintenance activities.
- Plan and execute preventive maintenance as per schedule and in line with approved maintenance SOPs and quality standards.
- Carry out condition monitoring of critical assets, including vibration, temperature and flow, and act on adverse trends.
- Liaise with Production and Utility shift in-charges for maintenance support, and engage vendors / OEMs or senior engineers for complex troubleshooting.
- Ensure complete and accurate shift handover to the incoming shift, covering equipment status, open jobs and pending actions.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, downtime and spare-parts usage for the assigned tool(s) or section.
- Prepare shift-wise reports and update the maintenance management system (CMMS); ensure checklist compliance and correct tagging of equipment status.
- Follow EHS protocols for all maintenance work; ensure protected isolation, lock-out / tag-out (LOTO)
and permit-to-work procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in maintenance areas and workshops.
3. Decision Rights and Escalation
- Can plan and prioritize maintenance work on the assigned tool(s) or section within the approved maintenance plan.
- Can carry out troubleshooting and restoration within approved SOPs; complex or repeat issues must be escalated to senior engineers, vendors / OEMs or the automation team as per the site escalation procedure.
- Changes to PM schedules, equipment parameters, PLC logic or safety interlocks require formal approval as per site change-control process.
- Stop unsafe work and escalate any safety, LOTO or permit-to-work concern, and any significant equipment risk, to the reporting manager without delay.
4. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Availability of assigned tool(s) or section and unplanned downtime
- PM schedule adherence and condition-monitoring coverage
- Breakdown response time, root-cause closure and repeat-failure reduction
- Accuracy and timeliness of maintenance records, shift reports and CMMS updates
- Safety compliance, including LOTO and permit-to-work discipline
5. Education and Experience
Education: Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering.
Experience: 5-7 years of maintenance experience in solar, semiconductor, electronics or other high-tech manufacturing environments.
6. Technical and Leadership Competencies
- Detailed technical knowledge of the assigned tool(s) or section, including sub-systems, critical parameters and their effect on process results.
- Advanced diagnosis of servo motors, drives and encoders, including gain tuning, parameter backup, homing recovery and separation of electrical and mechanical causes.
- Parameter-level setup and optimization of VFDs / AC drives, including ramps, control mode, current limit, PID, commissioning and PLC communication (Profinet, EtherCAT, Modbus).
- Selection, installation and calibration of sensors and transmitters (420 mA, 0–10 V, digital), including thermocouples, RTDs and mass flow controllers.
- Diagnosis of heating and temperature-control faults involving heaters, SSR / SCR power controllers and PID tuning.
- Troubleshooting of vacuum systems, including dry pumps, roots blowers, valves and gauges, with helium leak detection and base-pressure analysis.
- Reading and analyzing PLC and HMI logic (Siemens, Beckhoff), with controlled backups and authorized changes.
- Robot teaching, point calibration and wafer-handling alignment, with verification of safety circuits, light curtains and E-stops.
- Root-cause analysis of repeat failures using 5-Why, Fishbone and DMAIC, and verification of corrective actions.
- Criticality-based planning of PM schedules and critical spares for the assigned tool(s).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability; able to work independently under pressure and respond effectively to emergencies.
- Clear communication and effective teamwork across departments.
7. Key Interfaces
