Job Description Procurement (Wood & Laminate Industry)

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Procurement professional with strong expertise in strategic sourcing, vendor management, cost negotiation, and procurement operations. The candidate must have hands-on experience with SAP MM and a strong understanding of wood, timber, and forestry-based raw materials. The candidate must ensure timely procurement of materials at competitive prices while maintaining quality standards and optimizing costs.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage end-to-end procurement activities, including sourcing, vendor selection, negotiation, and purchase order processing.
- Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable suppliers for wood, timber, and other forestry-based raw materials.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, and commercial conditions with vendors.
- Prepare RFQs, analyze quotations, and develop comparative statements for supplier selection.
- Create and process purchase requisitions and purchase orders using SAP MM.
- Monitor open purchase orders, material availability, supplier commitments, and delivery schedules.
- Coordinate with Production, Stores, Quality, Finance, and other departments to meet material requirements.
- Maintain vendor records, procurement documentation, and supplier performance reports.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement procurement process improvements.
- Monitor inventory levels and support procurement planning to avoid stockouts and excess inventory.
- Resolve supplier-related issues concerning quality, delivery,



pricing, and documentation.
- Evaluate wood quality, timber grades, raw material specifications, and suitability for manufacturing requirements.

Mandatory Skills

- Hands-on working experience in SAP MM (Materials Management).
- Robust knowledge of procurement and purchasing processes.
- Expertise in vendor development, supplier management, and commercial negotiations.
- Experience in RFQ processing, quotation analysis, and purchase order management.
- Knowledge of inventory control, material planning, and procurement documentation.
- Understanding of wood, timber, forestry-based raw materials, and related manufacturing processes.
- Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and procurement reporting.

Educational Qualification – Mandatory

- B.Sc. Forestry or M.Sc. Forestry is mandatory.
- Candidates without a Forestry qualification will not be considered.

Experience Requirements

- 5–8 years of relevant experience in procurement or purchase operations.
- Manufacturing industry experience, preferably in wood, laminate, plywood, timber, or related industries.
- Practical SAP MM experience in purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and procurement reporting is mandatory.
