Testing Engineer - BMS
Key Responsibilities:
1. BMS Testing Strategy and Planning:
- Develop test plans and strategies for verifying and validating Battery Management Systems (BMS).
- Define test objectives, scope, resources, timelines, and deliverables for BMS testing activities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (hardware, software, and design) to understand the system requirements.
- Test Case Design and Execution:
- Create and execute test cases to validate BMS functionality, performance, and safety.
- Conduct testing on various BMS components, including voltage monitoring, state of charge (SOC), state of health (SOH), thermal management, and protection systems.
- Perform unit testing, integration testing, and system-level testing.
- Battery System Simulation and Testing:
- Use simulation tools to emulate battery behavior and validate BMS performance under different operating conditions.
- Test BMS under various scenarios, including charging/discharging cycles, overvoltage, undervoltage, thermal conditions, and fault conditions.
- Conduct real-time and energetic testing using actual battery packs or test benches.
- Failure Analysis and Debugging:
- Identify defects, anomalies, or failures during testing and work with the development team to debug and resolve issues.
- Investigate system failures by analyzing data logs and fault codes generated by the BMS during testing.
- Ensure that the BMS meets industry standards and regulatory safety requirements.
- Test Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain detailed records of test plans, procedures, results,
and any issues encountered during testing.
- Provide comprehensive test reports, including test case execution, deviations, root cause analysis, and proposed solutions.
- Document test configurations, test environments, and test results for traceability.
- Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) and Software-In-the-Loop (SIL) Testing:
- Participate in HIL/SIL testing setups to simulate BMS operation and interactions with other system components (e.g., chargers, inverters, controllers).
- Validate software interfaces and hardware integration within the BMS.
- Compliance and Standards Testing:
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations, including ISO, IEC, UL, and other relevant certifications for BMS.
- Test to validate performance under extreme conditions such as temperature variations, vibration, or electromagnetic interference (EMI).
- Continuous Improvement:
- Provide feedback on test results and propose improvements to the BMS design or testing processes.
- Work with R&D; teams to enhance the reliability, accuracy, and safety of BMS systems.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with design engineers, software developers, and other stakeholders to ensure proper BMS integration and testing.
- Communicate test progress, issues, and results effectively to cross-functional teams and management.
- Testing Automation (Optional):
- Where applicable, develop or work with automated testing tools to streamline BMS testing procedures and improve test coverage.
