Senior PL/SQL Developer

Job Summary

We are looking for a Senior Oracle PL/SQL Developer to design, analyze, enhance, and support database-driven solutions. The role requires deep hands-on experience with Oracle PL/SQL, the ability to read and understand complex existing stored procedures/packages, and deliver enhancements, new development, and production bug fixes. You should be strong in understanding business data, data models, and downstream impacts across systems.

Key Responsibilities

- Analyze and understand existing PL/SQL stored procedures, packages, functions, triggers and propose improvements.
- Implement enhancements and recent database features based on business requirements.
- Perform bug fixing, root cause analysis, and production support for data/process issues.
- Translate business needs into efficient, scalable database solutions and data workflows.
- Optimize SQL/PLSQL performance (query tuning, indexing guidance, execution plans).
- Work with data models (conceptual/logical/physical) and ensure solutions align with business definitions.
- Ensure data quality, consistency, and integrity through validations and controls.
- Collaborate with application teams, analysts, QA, and stakeholders to deliver end-to-end solutions.
- Create and maintain technical documentation (procedure logic, mapping, release notes, impact analysis).
- Support code reviews,



promote best practices, and mentor junior developers where needed.

Required Skills & Experience

- 6-8+ years (adjust as needed) of strong hands-on development with Oracle PL/SQL.
- Strong SQL skills: complex joins, analytical functions, subqueries, CTEs, performance tuning.
- Proven experience working on:
- Enhancements to existing procedures
- New implementations
- Bug fixes / production support

- Strong understanding of business data, data lineage, and data modelling concepts.
- Experience with data integration patterns: batch jobs, ETL/ELT concepts, scheduled loads, reconciliation.
- Familiarity with debugging and analysis tools (SQL Developer, TOAD, explain plan, trace/profiling basics).
- Strong communication skills: ability to explain technical impacts to business/functional teams.

Good to Have

- Experience with Oracle performance tuning (AWR/ASH basics, wait events, indexing strategy).
- Experience with version control (Git, SVN) and release processes.
- Banking/telecom/enterprise data domain experience (if relevant).
- Knowledge of Unix/Linux, shell scripting, and scheduling tools (Autosys/Control-M/Cron).
- Exposure to BI/reporting or downstream systems dependent on Oracle data.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science / IT / Engineering (or equivalent experience).
