Senior Java Developer

We are seeking an accomplished Senior Java Developer to join our dynamic Legal Technology team. In this role, you will design, build, and maintain robust applications that streamline legal workflows, ensure regulatory compliance, and deliver exceptional user experiences. You will collaborate closely with legal practitioners, product managers, and cross-functional engineers to drive innovative solutions that empower our legal department and clients alike.

Responsibilities:

1. Design, develop, and maintain scalable Java applications supporting legal operations and compliance initiatives.
2. Collaborate with legal stakeholders to translate complex legal requirements into technical specifications and software solutions.
3. Write clean, productive, and testable code using Java, Python, and React where appropriate.
4. Lead technical design sessions, code reviews, and mentoring activities to elevate team capabilities and best practices.
5. Optimize application performance, troubleshoot production issues, and implement effective solutions with minimal downtime.
6. Ensure software adheres to security, data privacy, and regulatory standards relevant to the legal industry.
7. Coordinate with DevOps teams to implement CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment strategies.
8. Document architecture, processes, and system integrations to maintain knowledge continuity across the department.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
2. 3–10 years of professional software development experience with a primary focus on Java.
3. Proficiency in object-oriented programming, design patterns, and microservices architecture.
4. Hands-on experience with RESTful API development and integration.
5. Working knowledge of Python for scripting, automation, or backend services.
6. Experience building responsive front-end components with React.
7. Solid understanding of relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and ORM frameworks.
8. Familiarity with version control systems (Git) and Agile methodologies.
9. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to Have:

1. Prior experience developing software for legal, compliance, or regulated industries.
2. Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
3. Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
4. Experience with test-driven development (TDD) and automated testing frameworks (JUnit, Selenium, Cypress).
5. Certification in Java (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional) or relevant cloud services.
6. Exposure to natural language processing (NLP) or machine learning in a legal tech context.
