The Department of Robotics & Artificial Intelligence is seeking an accomplished academic and research leader who can contribute to the next phase of the department's growth through high-impact research, industry collaboration, sponsored projects, consultancy, international partnerships and technology-led innovation.

We are particularly interested in professionals who can bridge academia, industry, advanced engineering and emerging AI technologies.

Position

Professor / Senior Faculty – Robotics & Artificial Intelligence

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

- Ph.D. in Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Control Systems or a closely related discipline from a reputed institution.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in academia, with significant experience in teaching, research and academic leadership.
- Strong academic and research credentials from reputed institutions.
- Demonstrated experience in building or leading research programs, laboratories, Centres of Excellence or academic-industry initiatives.

We Are Looking For Candidates with a strong track record in one or more of the following areas:
- Applied research in Robotics and AI, addressing real-world industrial and societal challenges.
- Robust industry connections and engagement with robotics, automation, automotive, manufacturing, semiconductor, aerospace, defence or technology companies.
- Demonstrated experience in industry-sponsored research and consultancy projects.
- Track record of securing competitive research grants and externally funded projects from government agencies and industry.
- Strong publication record in reputed international journals and conferences.
- Patents, technology development, technology transfer or commercialisation experience.
- Experience translating research into working prototypes, products, autonomous systems or industrial deployments.
- Established national and international research collaborations with universities, research institutions and industry.
- Experience developing and managing MoUs, joint research programs, faculty/student exchanges and international academic partnerships.
- Experience in mentoring startups,



deep-tech ventures or technology-based entrepreneurial initiatives.
- Ability to build multidisciplinary research programs across areas such as robotics, autonomous systems, computer vision, machine learning, generative AI, embodied AI, reinforcement learning, industrial automation, human-robot interaction, drones, autonomous vehicles, edge AI, digital twins and intelligent manufacturing.
- Experience establishing or strengthening Centres of Excellence, robotics laboratories, AI research groups or industry-funded facilities.
- Strong record of student mentoring, particularly in research, innovation, entrepreneurship and industry projects.
- Experience supervising Ph.D. scholars and postgraduate research students.
- Demonstrated ability to attract and develop high-quality research talent and collaborative research teams.
- Strong professional network across academia, industry, R&D; organisations and technology startups.

Desirable Profile Preference will be given to candidates who have:
- Academic experience at IITs, IISc, BITS Pilani, leading NITs or other reputed national/international universities.
- Significant experience working with or collaborating with leading global robotics, AI, automation and technology companies.
- International academic or research experience.
- A strong record of externally funded and industry-sponsored research.
- Experience in technology development and real-world deployment of robotics and AI systems.
- Successful technology commercialisation / technology transfer / startup incubation experience.
- Experience building industry-funded laboratories or Centres of Excellence.
- Experience in academic administration, department leadership or institutional development.

Key Responsibilities The selected candidate will be expected to:
1. Lead and strengthen applied research in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence.
2. Develop large-scale industry-sponsored and government-funded research programs.
3. Build strategic partnerships with leading national and international companies and universities.
4. Drive consultancy, technology development and industry projects.
5. Establish new robotics and AI laboratories, Centres of Excellence and multidisciplinary research groups.

Mentor faculty and researchers in developing competitive research proposals and high-quality publications.
7. Guide Ph.D., postgraduate and undergraduate students in high-quality research and innovation projects.
8. Create pathways for patents, technology transfer, licensing and commercialisation.
9. Mentor student and faculty-led deep-tech, robotics and AI startups.
10. Develop international research collaborations and joint programs.
11. Strengthen the department's visibility through high-impact publications, patents, funded projects, industry deployments and international collaborations.
12. Contribute to curriculum development with emphasis on industry relevance, emerging technologies and experiential learning.
13. Represent the institution at major academic, industry and research forums nationally and internationally.
14. Contribute to the strategic growth of the Department as a leading centre for Robotics, AI and intelligent autonomous systems.
