Job Title: Purchase Manager – Lactalis India

Job Overview:

The Purchase Manager is responsible for sourcing, procurement, and supply chain management of all materials, equipment, and services necessary for dairy production. This includes managing relationships with suppliers, negotiating contracts, ensuring quality, maintaining cost-efficiency, and ensuring timely supply of raw materials like milk, packaging materials, additives, and other dairy-related inputs.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Sourcing & Procurement:
- Develop and implement effective sourcing strategies for raw materials like milk, cream, culture, additives, and packaging materials.
- Identify reliable suppliers locally and internationally, and build strong relationships with them.
- Ensure all materials meet industry standards and regulatory requirements for dairy production.

- Supplier Relationship Management:

- Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers to achieve best pricing and quality.
- Regularly evaluate supplier performance in terms of cost, quality, reliability, and delivery timelines.
- Conduct supplier audits and quality checks as required.

- Inventory & Supply Chain Management:

- Monitor stock levels and forecast future demands based on production schedules.
- Ensure optimal inventory levels to avoid stockouts or overstocking.
- Work closely with the production and logistics teams to ensure smooth operations.

- Cost Management:

- Ensure procurement processes are cost-efficient and help in reducing operational costs.
- Analyze market trends and provide recommendations on pricing adjustments.
- Review purchase orders and contracts to ensure financial compliance.

- Compliance & Quality Control:

- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations,



especially in handling dairy-related materials.
- Work with the Quality Assurance (QA) department to ensure all purchased items meet safety and quality standards.
- Ensure that all supplier certifications and licenses are up to date, as per food safety regulations (FSSAI, ISO, etc.).

- Contract Management:

- Draft, review, and manage contracts with suppliers and service providers.
- Ensure adherence to agreed-upon terms, delivery schedules, and contractual obligations.

- Vendor Development & Evaluation:

- Continuously assess recent vendors and improve sourcing options.
- Develop and implement vendor rating systems based on quality, delivery, and cost-effectiveness.

- Risk Management:

- Identify risks in the supply chain, such as delays, price fluctuations, or supply shortages, and develop contingency plans.
- Stay updated on industry trends, changes in regulations, and market shifts that could affect supply chain operations.

Key Skills:

- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to build and maintain supplier relationships.
- In-depth understanding of dairy production processes and supply chain management.
- Knowledge of industry-specific regulations and quality standards (HACCP, FSSAI, ISO).
- Analytical skills to evaluate supplier performance and market trends.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and procurement software.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, especially under pressure.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field. A background in food technology or dairy science is a plus.
- 5+ years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, preferably in the dairy or food industry.
- Knowledge of dairy procurement challenges, such as raw milk quality, perishability, and seasonal fluctuations
