The Team Lead – Product owns the end-to-end product lifecycle for one or more platform modules within the organisation's fintech portfolio — from problem definition and requirement articulation through design, delivery, rollout and post-launch performance. The role sits at the intersection of business, technology, compliance and the client institution, and is accountable for translating regulatory mandates, institutional requirements and user needs into a clear, buildable and commercially viable product roadmap.

Beyond individual product ownership, the incumbent leads a small pod of product and business analysts, setting standards for documentation quality, requirement rigour and stakeholder communication, and acting as the escalation point for product decisions within the assigned track.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

2.1 Product Strategy & Roadmap

- Own the product vision, roadmap and release plan for assigned modules; publish and maintain a rolling quarterly roadmap with clearly stated outcomes.
- Translate business objectives, regulatory circulars and client mandates into prioritised product initiatives, using a defined prioritisation framework (value vs. effort, compliance-driven vs. discretionary).
- Conduct market, competitor and regulatory scanning; identify feature gaps and adjacent product opportunities and present the business case to leadership.
- Define and defend build-vs-buy-vs-integrate decisions in consultation with engineering and partner-management teams.

2.2 Requirement Definition & Product Design

- Lead discovery with client institutions and internal stakeholders; convert findings into Business Requirement Documents (BRD), Functional Requirement Specifications (FRS), user stories with acceptance criteria, process flows and wireframes.
- Own the functional specification of workflows, business rules, validation logic, master data structures, MIS/report formats and API contracts for assigned modules.
- Maintain a single source of truth for product documentation; enforce version control, change-log discipline and sign-off traceability.
- Partner with UX/UI on journey design,



ensuring interfaces are usable by low-digital-maturity end users (branch staff, field officers, first-time digital customers) as applicable.

2.3 Delivery Execution & Coordination

- Run agile ceremonies for the pod — backlog grooming, sprint planning, review and retrospectives — and maintain a healthy, well-groomed and correctly prioritised backlog.
- Serve as the primary point of clarification for engineering and QA throughout the build cycle; resolve functional ambiguities within defined turnaround times.
- Review test scenarios and test cases for functional completeness; participate in UAT, coordinate client sign-off and manage defect triage and prioritisation.
- Track release readiness across engineering, QA, infrastructure, security and support; own go/no-go recommendations for assigned releases.
- Plan and support production rollout, pilot deployments, phased onboarding, migration activities and hypercare periods.

2.4 Stakeholder & Client Engagement

- Act as the product-side interface for client institutions (banks, cooperative institutions, NBFCs, insurers), regulators/nodal bodies and technology partners.
- Prepare and deliver product demonstrations, walkthroughs, workshops and training material for client and internal audiences.
- Draft formal correspondence, status notes, meeting agendas, minutes and decision summaries for senior institutional and government audiences, maintaining a concise and formal register.
- Manage competing stakeholder demands: negotiate scope, communicate trade-offs transparently and secure documented agreement on deviations from baseline scope.
- Escalate scope creep,



dependency failures and resourcing risks to leadership with supporting evidence and recommended options.

2.5 Compliance, Risk & Governance

- Ensure product design remains compliant with applicable regulatory and statutory requirements (RBI/NABARD/IRDAI guidelines, KYC/AML norms, data protection legislation, e-signature and consent frameworks, accessibility standards) as relevant to the assigned track.
- Coordinate with legal, compliance, information-security and audit functions on product changes with regulatory or contractual implications.
- Maintain audit-ready documentation covering requirement approvals, change requests, UAT sign-offs and release notes.
- Identify product-level operational risks and define mitigations, fallback flows and reconciliation controls, particularly for payment, lending and enrolment journeys.

2.6 Team Leadership & Capability Building

- Allocate work across the pod based on module ownership and bank/client portfolio; ensure transparent ownership with no orphaned deliverables.
- Review the team's documentation, user stories and client communication before external circulation; provide structured, actionable feedback.
- Mentor and develop team members; set goals, conduct periodic reviews and identify training needs.
- Build and maintain reusable assets — templates, checklists, requirement libraries, reference process flows — to raise the baseline quality and speed of the function.
- Support hiring: define role requirements, screen candidates and onboard new joiners into the product process.

2.7 Data, Performance & Continuous Improvement

- Define product success metrics and instrumentation requirements; monitor adoption, drop-off, throughput, turnaround time, error rates and support ticket trends.
- Present periodic product performance reviews to leadership with insights and recommended interventions.
- Consolidate feedback from support, operations, field teams and client institutions into a structured improvement backlog.
- Drive process improvements that reduce requirement rework, defect leakage and release cycle time.
