Manager - Sheet Metal

1. Team Leadership and Management

- Staff Supervision: Lead, manage, and mentor a team of engineers, technicians, machine operators, and other sheet metal workers. Ensure proper training and professional development.

- Resource Allocation: Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members based on their expertise and project requirements.

- Performance Management: Monitor employee performance, provide feedback, and address any performance or operational issues.

2. Production and Manufacturing Oversight

- Production Planning: Oversee the planning and scheduling of sheet metal fabrication projects to ensure on-time delivery, quality, and cost-effectiveness.

- Process Optimization: Continuously analyze and improve manufacturing processes to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and improve throughput.

- Equipment Management: Ensure that sheet metal machinery (e.g., presses, lasers, CNC machines, bending machines) is properly maintained and operated. Ensure any necessary repairs or upgrades are addressed promptly.

3. Design and Technical Oversight

- Design Support: Collaborate with design and engineering teams to review and optimize sheet metal designs for manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and ease of production.

- CAD/CAM Coordination: Work with computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) systems to ensure seamless translation from design to production.

- Prototyping and Custom Fabrication: Manage the creation of prototypes and custom sheet metal products, ensuring they meet client specifications and requirements.

4. Quality Control and Assurance

- Quality Standards: Implement and enforce quality control procedures to ensure that sheet metal products meet company, customer, and industry standards.

- Inspection and Testing: Oversee the inspection of finished products for defects, tolerances, and overall quality. Implement necessary corrective actions when quality issues arise.

- Process Compliance: Ensure adherence to industry standards, regulatory requirements,



and internal policies regarding sheet metal production and fabrication.

5. Cost Management and Budgeting

- Cost Estimation: Oversee the estimation of costs for sheet metal fabrication projects, including materials, labor, and overhead costs.

- Budget Management: Develop and manage departmental budgets, ensuring that projects are completed within the allocated financial constraints.

- Waste Reduction: Implement strategies to reduce material waste, improve yield, and optimize resource usage to keep production costs within budget.

6. Safety and Regulatory Compliance

- Health & Safety Oversight: Ensure that all sheet metal operations adhere to workplace safety regulations and industry standards. Develop and enforce safety protocols for workers and the use of machinery.

- Training: Conduct or organize safety training programs for employees, ensuring that they are well-versed in protected practices for sheet metal work.

- Environmental Compliance: Ensure that all sheet metal production processes are in compliance with environmental regulations, such as proper disposal of materials and minimizing emissions.

7. Customer and Vendor Interaction

- Client Liaison: Interface with customers to understand their sheet metal needs and provide technical expertise in terms of manufacturability, costs, and timelines.

- Vendor Management: Develop and maintain relationships with raw material suppliers, subcontractors, and other vendors to ensure the availability of high-quality materials at competitive prices.

- Order Fulfillment: Manage the timely delivery of orders, ensuring that client specifications are met.

8. Continuous Improvement and Innovation

- Lean Manufacturing: Implement lean manufacturing principles to enhance productivity and reduce inefficiencies in sheet metal production processes.

- Process Improvement: Regularly assess and identify opportunities to improve production methods, technology adoption, or employee productivity.

- Technology Integration: Stay current with technological advancements in sheet metal fabrication (e.g., automation, robotics, advanced CNC machinery) and recommend integration where beneficial.
