Line Haul Operations Assistant Manager – First Mile / Mid Mile

Experience: 2–8 Years

Department: Logistics & Supply Chain Operations

Function: Line Haul, Transportation, First Mile, Mid Mile & Warehouse Operations

Qualification: B.Tech/ MBA from Tier 1 or 2 Colleges

Industry: E Commerce/Q Commerce/ Logistic /Warehouse

Key Responsibilities

Line Haul, First Mile & Mid Mile Operations

- Manage daily First Mile and Mid Mile transportation operations, including vehicle placement, dispatch planning, and shipment movement.
- Ensure timely vehicle reporting, loading, departure, transit, and delivery as per the defined schedule.
- Monitor line haul movements, shipment connectivity, vehicle turnaround time (TAT), and on-time performance.
- Plan vehicle requirements based on shipment volume, route, capacity, and operational demand.
- Coordinate with origin and destination warehouses, hubs, sorting centers, and transportation teams.
- Resolve operational exceptions, vehicle shortages, delays, route deviations, and shipment connectivity issues.
- Ensure compliance with transportation SOPs, safety standards, and operational SLAs.
- Manage transport panels,



fleet vendors, and transport service providers.
- Ensure vehicle availability according to operational requirements and shipment forecasts.
- Maintain vendor databases, vehicle deployment plans, rate cards, and performance records.
- Prepare and manage Requests for Quotation (RFQs) for transportation requirements.
- Obtain quotations from transport vendors and evaluate commercial proposals.
- Conduct rate benchmarking, freight negotiations, and vendor finalization based on cost and service capability.
- Develop lane-wise freight costing based on origin, destination, distance, vehicle type, load capacity, and shipment volume.
- Work with transportation management systems (TMS), warehouse systems (WMS), transport panels, and other logistics automation platforms.
- Monitor vehicle placement, trip tracking, dispatch status, freight bills, and shipment visibility through system dashboards.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly MIS reports for operational performance and cost analysis management.
