Purpose/Objective

The Ocean Freight Product Head will be responsible for the strategic development, pricing, and operational excellence of the ocean freight product across India.

This includes managing carrier relationships, optimizing trade lane performance, and ensuring competitive positioning in the market.

The role requires robust commercial acumen, deep industry knowledge, and leadership capabilities to drive growth and profitability.

Key Responsibilities of Role

Product Strategy & Development - Define and execute the ocean freight product strategy for both FCL and Break Bulk chartering services.

- Develop trade lane specific & business specific plans - Innovate service offerings including value-added services and digital solutions.

Carrier & Vendor Management - Build and maintain strategic relationships with shipping lines and co-loaders.

- Negotiate competitive freight rates, space allocations, and service contracts.
- Monitor carrier performance and resolve service issues proactively.

Procurement - Lead procurement strategy for ocean freight across trade lanes.

- Ensure transit optimization while maintaining market competitiveness.
- Collaborate with BUs for payments, receivables & governance and approvals.

Operational Excellence - Work closely with operations teams to ensure service quality and process efficiency.

- Drive automation, digitalization, and standardization of ocean freight processes.
- Monitor KPIs and deliver on them along with the team.





Sales Enablement & Market Intelligence - Support BUs with market insights, proactive communication and solution design.

- Analyze market trends, competitor offerings, and BU feedback.

- Develop market collaterals and performance review mechanisms Compliance & Risk Management - Ensure adherence to international shipping regulations and customs laws.

- Mitigate risks related to cargo claims, documentation errors, and regulatory audits.

Preferred Skills: - Familiarity with digital freight platforms and AI tools - Experience working with complex supply chains, global freight forwarders - Ability to manage cross-functional teams and drive change.

- Strong commercial mindset with a customer-centric approach

Technical Competencies

Compliance with audit, safety & security norms ,Integration & deployment of data through the freight platform,Secure BU level SLAs and Customer Satisfaction,Execution excellence from payables to receivables

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications & Experience: - Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, International Business, or related field.

- 15+ years of experience in ocean freight, product management, or carrier relations.
- Strong understanding of global trade lanes, INCOTERMS, and shipping documentation.
- Proven experience in pricing, procurement, and vendor negotiations.
- Excellent leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
