Role Purpose:

The role is responsible for conducting risk-based internal audits across project operations, evaluating internal controls, ensuring regulatory compliance, assessing project performance, and providing recommendations to strengthen governance, risk management, and operational effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

Audit Planning & Risk Assessment

- Develop and implement risk-based internal audit plans for project operations.
- Identify financial, operational, and compliance risks associated with project execution.
- Define audit scope, objectives, and timelines for project reviews.

Internal Control Evaluation

- Assess the effectiveness of internal controls covering procurement, budgeting, financial reporting, and resource utilization.
- Identify control gaps and recommend corrective measures to strengthen the control environment.

Financial & Project Audits

- Review project financial records to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Audit project budgets, funding, cost allocation, and expenditure management.
- Monitor adherence to contractual obligations and funding requirements.

Compliance & Risk Management

- Ensure project activities comply with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Conduct audits related to regulatory compliance, contract management, and external reporting requirements.
- Identify project risks and recommend mitigation measures.

Project Performance Review

- Evaluate project performance against budget, timelines, and defined objectives.




- Assess efficiency of resource utilization across projects.
- Conduct post-implementation reviews to evaluate project success and sustainability.

Reporting & Advisory

- Prepare audit reports highlighting findings, recommendations, and corrective actions.
- Present audit observations to project teams and senior management.
- Support project teams with recommendations to improve controls, risk management, cost optimization, and operational efficiency.
- Track closure of audit observations and implementation of action plans.

Stakeholder Coordination

- Collaborate with project teams, finance functions, and key stakeholders during audit assignments.
- Coordinate with external auditors and provide necessary documentation and audit support.
- Maintain comprehensive audit documentation and records in line with established standards and best practices.

Experience & Qualifications

Experience

- 6-14 years of experience in Internal Audit, preferably in project-driven environments such as Engineering, Construction, Infrastructure, Manufacturing, or IT.
- Exposure to project management methodologies such as Agile, PRINCE2, or PMP will be an added advantage.

Technical Skills

- Strong understanding of Internal Control Frameworks, Audit Methodologies, and Risk Management practices.
- Knowledge of Financial Auditing, Compliance Auditing, and Regulatory Requirements.
- Proficiency in Audit Tools and ERP systems.
- Familiarity with accounting standards such as GAAP and IFRS.

Travel Requirement
