Purpose/Objective

To ensure compliance with all environmental regulations and statutory requirements related to coal mining operations, monitor environmental performance, implement pollution control measures, and drive sustainable mining practices while maintaining necessary environmental clearances and records.

Key Responsibilities of Role

a { text-decoration: none; color: #464feb; } tr th, tr td { border: 1px solid #e6e6e6; } tr th { background-color: #f5f5f5; } Key Responsibilities Environmental Compliance - Ensure compliance with environmental laws, regulations, EC (Environmental Clearance), CTO (Consent to Operate), CTE (Consent to Establish), and other statutory requirements.

- Coordinate with regulatory authorities such as State Pollution Control Board (SPCB), MoEF&CC;, DGMS, and district administration.
- Monitor compliance conditions stipulated in Environmental Clearance and Forest Clearance approvals.
- Maintain all statutory environmental records, registers, and reports.

Environmental Monitoring - Conduct and monitor ambient air quality, water quality, noise level, vibration, and soil quality assessments.

- Ensure periodic environmental monitoring through NABL-accredited laboratories.
- Analyze monitoring results and recommend corrective actions wherever required.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, and annual environmental reports.

Pollution Control Management - Monitor the performance of dust suppression systems, mist cannons, water sprinklers, and other pollution control equipment.

- Ensure effective control of dust emissions from drilling, blasting, haul roads, crushers, and coal handling plants.




- Drive initiatives to reduce environmental impact of mining activities.

Waste & Water Management - Monitor mine water discharge and ensure compliance with prescribed standards.

- Implement wastewater management and rainwater harvesting initiatives.
- Ensure proper disposal and management of hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
- Develop and implement water conservation measures.

Plantation & Greenbelt Development - Plan and execute afforestation and greenbelt development activities in compliance with environmental commitments.

- Monitor plantation survival rates and maintain records.
- Coordinate rehabilitation and reclamation activities in mined-out areas.

Environmental Audits & Inspections - Conduct internal environmental inspections and audits.

- Facilitate external audits by statutory authorities and corporate teams.
- Ensure closure of audit observations within stipulated timelines.
- Support ISO 14001 Environmental Management System implementation and maintenance.

Sustainability Initiatives - Promote sustainable mining practices.

- Implement carbon footprint reduction and resource conservation initiatives.
- Monitor environmental KPIs and benchmarking activities.
- Support ESG (Environmental, Social & Governance) reporting requirements.

Technical Competencies

Qualifications and Experience

Educational Qualification B.

Sc / M.

Sc (Environmental Science) Experience 3-8 years of experience in environmental management within coal mines, open-cast mines, underground mines, cement, power, or other mining industries.
