Position: Testing & Validation Engineer – Energy Storage Systems (ESS)

Department: Engineering / R&D;

Location: IMT Manesar Gurgaon

Reports to: R&D; Manager

Role Overview

The Testing & Validation Engineer will be responsible for planning, executing, and documenting testing activities for lithium-ion battery packs, battery management systems (BMS), and complete energy storage systems (ESS). This role ensures compliance with safety, reliability, and performance standards and supports product certification, current product development, and customer validation.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute test plans, validation protocols, and procedures for battery modules, packs, and ESS systems.

- Conduct performance, safety, and reliability tests including capacity, cycle life, thermal, mechanical, and environmental testing.
- Validate BMS functionality and communication protocols (CAN, RS485, Modbus, etc.) with inverters/PCS.
- Analyze test data, identify root causes of failures, and recommend corrective actions.
- Prepare test reports, validation summaries, and compliance documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure lab equipment and test benches are properly calibrated and maintained.
- Support field testing and customer pilots, including troubleshooting and failure analysis at site.
- Stay updated with evolving standards and regulations for ESS (UL9540, IEC 62619, IEC 62133, BIS, etc.).

Key Skills & Competencies

• Knowledge of lithium-ion batteries (LiFePO4), BMS, and ESS systems.
- Experience with battery testing equipment (battery cyclers, thermal chambers, safety testers).
- Familiarity with international safety and performance standards for ESS.
- Proficiency in data acquisition, analysis, and reporting (Excel, PowerPoint word, origin preferred).




- Understanding of electrical safety practices in high-voltage battery testing.
- Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
- Good communication and documentation skills.

Qualifications & Experience

• B.Tech/M.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, Energy, Mechanical, or related fields.
- 2–5 years of experience in battery testing, validation, or product certification.
- Experience in ESS/BESS, or renewable integration projects preferred.

- Analyzing test data and providing detailed reports on findings, including recommendations for design improvements.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and maintaining quality standards throughout the testing process.

To succeed in this role – you should have the following:

- A degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, with relevant experience in testing and validation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
- Familiarity with energy storage systems and knowledge of relevant industry standards and testing methodologies.
