Minimum Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience in embedded or kernel software development.
- 3 years of experience in people management.

Preferred Qualifications

- Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience with Linux development environment and git/gerrit tools.
- Experience developing in coreboot, Zephyr OS, or other open-source projects.
- Knowledge of x86/ARM architecture.

The Laptops and Tablets (L&T;) Platform Bring-up team designs and builds the system software, device driver, and hardware enablement firmware that powers Google's Chromebooks and Googlebooks. Your role will involve driving open-source initiatives while collaborating closely with major SoC and hardware vendors. Your team will translate complex silicon capabilities into seamless experiences used by millions globally.

The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), along with our first-party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams within this area are dedicated to researching, designing, and developing new technologies that enhance users' interactions with computing, providing faster and more seamless experiences worldwide.

Responsibilities

- Manage a cross-functional team of engineers.
- Participate in board bring-ups and collaborate with partners to deliver current Chromebook and Googlebook devices.




- Work with a global team of software and hardware engineers on new technology proposals and process improvements.
- Evaluate and enhance code and processes for scalability and maintainability.
- Be prepared to discuss your knowledge and use of AI tools during the hiring process. AI fluency is an expectation in this role.
