Role Description

This is a full-time, in office role for a Drainage & Sewerage Design Engineer (Water Infrastructure) based in Mumbai / Navi Mumbai. We are looking for an engineer with approximately 10 years of experience in water-sector and infrastructure consultancy projects.

Key responsibilities:

- Stormwater drainage design: Plan and design drainage systems for urban infrastructure, roads, highways, industrial areas, townships, and land development projects. This covers catchment delineation, runoff estimation, and sizing of underground pipes, RCC drains, open channels, roadside drains, culverts, inlets, catch pits, manholes, and outfalls.
- Hydrology and hydraulic modelling: Carry out rainfall-runoff analysis using IDF curves, runoff coefficients, time of concentration, and design return periods. Model drainage networks to assess capacity and surcharge. Carry out flood and waterlogging assessments,



evaluate the impact of new development on existing drainage and downstream conditions, and recommend improvements such as capacity augmentation, diversion channels, detention/retention, and sustainable urban drainage solutions.
- Sewerage network design: Design gravity sewers, trunk sewers, lateral networks, manholes, and inspection chambers. Estimate wastewater flows from population projections, generation rates, and infiltration allowances. Size pipes and check slopes, invert levels, velocities, and hydraulic gradients using relevant modelling software. Support the design of pumping stations and rising mains where required.
- Deliverables: Prepare and review DPRs, feasibility studies, design basis reports, technical specifications, BOQs, design calculations, and detailed drawings (layouts, longitudinal sections, cross-sections, hydraulic profiles).
- Coordination and support: Coordinate with civil, structural, road, water supply, and environmental teams, and align drainage and sewer designs with road levels, grading plans, and utility corridors. Review survey and utility data, incorporate client comments, join client meetings, review designs for constructability, safety, and compliance, and support site visits and construction-phase technical issues.

Qualifications

- B.Tech / B.E.



in Civil Engineering (mandatory); M.Tech / M.E. in Environmental Engineering, Hydrology, Water Resources Engineering, or a related discipline (preferred).
- Approximately 10 years of relevant experience in water-sector, urban infrastructure, and engineering consultancy projects.
- Strong hands-on experience in stormwater drainage design, sewerage network design, and hydraulic calculations.
- Demonstrated experience in hydrological analysis, catchment assessment, rainfall-runoff calculations, and drainage network planning. Experience in urban drainage, road drainage, surface runoff management, and flood mitigation is desirable.
- Experience preparing DPRs, detailed engineering designs, technical reports, and multidisciplinary project deliverables.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, plus Civil 3D and GIS tools for terrain analysis and catchment delineation.
- Experience with SewerGEMS/WaterGEMS and stormwater modelling tools such as StormCAD, InfoDrainage, SWMM, HEC-HMS, or HEC-RAS, depending on project needs.
- Knowledge of CPHEEO manuals, applicable Indian Standards, local drainage requirements, and project-specific design guidelines.
- Ability to interpret survey data, topographic maps, and DEMs, and to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail and a commitment to safety and sustainability.
- Familiarity with projects funded by international agencies (JICA, World Bank, ADB, etc.) is an advantage. Experience in urban development, roads and highways, municipal infrastructure, and water and sanitation projects is also an advantage.
