Role Description This is a full-time in office role based in Jammu for a Doctoral Researcher in Electrical Engineering. The role involves conducting original research under faculty supervision, including designing experiments, developing theoretical models, and analyzing data in areas such as power systems, electronics, communications, control, or related subdomains.

The Doctoral

Researcher will review scientific literature, formulate research questions, implement simulations or laboratory prototypes, and document findings through research papers, theses, and technical reports. Day-to-day responsibilities also include collaborating with research groups, assisting in teaching or mentoring students when required, preparing presentations for seminars and conferences, and contributing to project proposals and grant-related documentation.



The position requires active participation in academic activities of the department and adherence to institutional research ethics and quality standards.

Qualifications

- Strong foundation in Electrical Engineering, with knowledge in one or more areas such as power systems, power electronics, communication systems, signal processing, control systems, or embedded systems.
- Proficiency in mathematical modeling, analytical problem-solving, and the use of relevant simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, PSCAD, SPICE, or similar).
- Ability to design and conduct experiments, work with laboratory equipment, and analyze experimental data using appropriate statistical or computational methods.
- Competence in technical writing, documentation of research outcomes, and preparation of manuscripts for journals and conferences.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary research teams.
- Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field; exceptional candidates with a strong Bachelor’s background may also be considered as per institute norms.
- Demonstrated interest in research through prior projects, publications, or industrial R&D; experience is highly beneficial.
- Willingness to be based on-site in Jammu and to engage fully with the academic and research environment of IIT Jammu.
