Content Growth Marketer -
About the role:
Astra is hiring a Content Growth Marketer to make our technical content travel: choose the channel and format each piece needs, run distribution experiments, and grow reach among security and engineering buyers.
Location: Bengaluru
About Astra
Astra runs continuous, offensive pentests across apps, APIs, and cloud for more than 1,200 engineering teams.
Our platform combines hacker-style manual pentesting with AI-powered automation: PTaaS, Autonomous Pentest, a DAST scanner, an API security platform, and a cloud vulnerability scanner. Astra has uncovered more than 2 million vulnerabilities, and customers rate us 4.6 on G2.
Why this role exists
We have deep security expertise in-house and a content team built for search, but nobody whose main job is getting that content in front of the right people.
Three gaps hold us back:
- Distribution. What we ship doesn't reach far enough. The standard SaaS checklist- blog, LinkedIn post, and newsletter- isn't enough anymore; distribution has to be experimental and keep evolving.
- Speed. By the time a piece ships, the moment has often passed. Security moves on news cycles, and we need to push a take while the topic is still live.
- Video. The channels our buyers use, LinkedIn included, are going video-first. Our video work today is opportunistic, not an engine.
The shift we want: make fewer, stronger pieces, distribute half of them hard across channels, and let the rest feed search. You'll own the distribution side of that shift.
What you'll own
Distribution of Astra's brand and technical content is your primary KPI: you decide how each piece travels, and you prove what works.
- Distribution plans. For every flagship piece, such as research, data reports like State of Continuous Pentesting, product launches, and customer stories, decide the channels, formats, and sequence that give it the most reach.
- Experiments. Run a steady cadence of distribution experiments across LinkedIn, YouTube, newsletters, podcasts, technical communities, partner channels, employee and founder voices, and our community, the 403 Circle. Turn what works into repeatable playbooks and drop what doesn't.
- Repurposing. Turn one strong piece into many channel-native ones: short posts, carousels, short video,
newsletter features, and community posts. Write the hooks and copy yourself.
- Video. Work with freelance creators on per-piece budgets to turn research and product stories into short video for social. Shape scripts and help our experts get comfortable on camera.
- Speed. When a CVE, breach, or industry moment breaks, work with our researchers and writers to get a take out within days, and push it while it's live.
- Input on what we make. Tell the content team what travels and what doesn't, and pitch brand content ideas based on what the data shows.
- Partners. Brief and manage freelancers and agencies so content keeps shipping while the wider team grows.
- Reporting. Track reach and engagement by channel and by piece, and share a short weekly read on what to double down on.
What this role is not
This is a hands-on distribution and growth role, not a content leadership or SEO production job.
- Not a content team lead. You won't manage writers or own the editorial calendar. You'll shape what we make through what you learn about what travels.
- Not SEO content production. Writing to a keyword plan isn't your day job, though you'll distribute our strongest SEO pieces too.
- Not just posting. Scheduling posts is a small part of distribution. The job is figuring out what will travel and why.
- Not a security researcher. Our researchers bring the findings. You turn them into formats people want to read and watch.
What success looks like
Success means more of the right people see our technical content, and you can show which channels and formats got them there.
First 90 days
- Audit what we've published in the last year and where it actually traveled.
- Pick two or three channels and formats to bet on, with a transparent hypothesis for each.
- Run a full distribution plan for at least one flagship piece, and push one fast-turn piece on a live security story.
- Ship a first short video series with freelance creators.
- Set baselines and a weekly experiment cadence.
First 12 months
- Reach of distributed content grows quarter on quarter.
- Every flagship asset launches with a tested distribution playbook.
- Video is a regular output, not a one-off.
- We know which channels and formats work for our buyers, backed by experiment results.
- Accounts that engage with our content are tracked through to pipeline.
Who you are
You've made B2B content travel; you can show the numbers, and you'd rather run an experiment than debate one.
- 3–6 years in content marketing, growth marketing, social, or media, including 2+ years in B2B tech or SaaS.
- A track record of making content spread. Bring examples with numbers: what you distributed, where, and what you changed to make it travel.
- You write sharp, channel-native copy and hooks, and you know how LinkedIn, YouTube, and online communities reward different formats.
- Hands-on with short-form video: you've scripted, edited, or produced clips that performed, or worked closely with creators to get them made.
- A news instinct: you spot a story early and move fast when something breaks.
- An experimenter's habits: clear hypotheses, honest measurement in platform and web analytics, and the discipline to kill what isn't working.
- Editorial taste. You can tell strong technical content from weak, including AI drafts, and fix it.
- You work without much hand-holding, and you've managed freelancers or agencies.
- You pick up technical subjects quickly and are comfortable working with engineers and researchers.
- You use AI tools for research, drafting, and repurposing, and you know where they fall short.
Nice to have
None of these are required, but each one will help you ramp up faster.
- Background in cybersecurity, DevSecOps, or developer tools.
- A media or journalism background.
- Experience hosting a podcast or video series.
- You've built a newsletter, community, or creator-led channel from zero.
- Experience with technical communities such as Reddit, Hacker News, Discord, or security conferences.
- Experience launching data reports or research with PR.
- Experience reaching buyers in the US, Europe and Asia-Pacific.
