Purpose/Objective

This role will be responsible for planning and executing maintenance strategies for boiler and auxiliaries to ensure system reliability and prevent unplanned outages.

This role will provide technical guidance, oversee budget and inventory management, and implement analytical tools like RCA and FMEA to enhance equipment performance.

Additionally, this role will support operations in emergency situations and manage contracts and procurement to ensure cost-effective maintenance operations.

Key Responsibilities of Role

Maintenance Planning: Plan and ensure the availability of boiler pressure parts, valves, APH, FGD equipment, pipes, boiler rotary equipment, including coal feeders, bunkers, mills, all fans,FGD area fans, condensate extraction pump and supports to prevent unplanned outages and enhance system reliability.

Oversee the execution of predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance, ensuring compliance with notifications and maintenance schedules.

Provide inputs and support for the planning, execution and review of Annual Overhaul (AOH) and Capital Overhaul (COH) within budgets and allotted manpower.

Identify recent projects and maintenance practices for the execution of maintenance planning.

Ensure effective contract management, including the deployment of business associates, bill certifications, and timely payment to contractors.

Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance to technicians to maintain equipment in a safe, reliable, and cost-effective manner.

Ensure implementation of Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and technical audits, including ISO, IWMS, 5S, etc.

, for the boiler and auxiliaries area.

Record critical parameters of the boiler and auxiliaries, such as tube metal temperature, pressure, thermal expansion, safety valves set and pressure valves.

Responsible for improving performance by reducing equipment down time, increasing MTBF (Mean Time Between Failure),



increasing equipment availability and reliability.

Support the Operations team for emergency handling in the Boiler and Auxiliary area.

Budget and Inventory Management: Prepare the budget and manage the budget for the Boiler and Auxiliaries, ensuring cost-effective operations and maintenance activities.

Prepare the Technical Evaluation Report (TER) of all materials and services, and ensure the proper utilization of the budget.

Manage inventory and procurement of spares, insulation sheets, and refractory materials, ensuring availability for annual requirements and control of spares consumption.

Approve material and service Purchase Requisitions (PRs).

Ensure the cost-saving by local vendor development and import substitution of spares.

Ensure availability of all latest tools and equipment for technicians to perform maintenance activities effectively.

Business Sustainability: Ensure adherence to IMS, AWMS, DISHA and safety during execution as per CHETNA guidelines, including the implementation of CHETNA drives such as SRFA and FSIPPA through subordinates.

Support Head Maintenance for license renewal of Boiler pressure parts, Valves, APH, and FGD, ensuring all documentation for license renewals is accurate and up-to-date.

Ensure availability of equipment and systems by minimizing breakdowns through strict adherence to preventive and predictive maintenance.

Track safety observations in GENSUITE and ensure compliance with safety observations as per the system.

Digitization and Automation: Participate in conclaves, seminars and actively participate in discussions to drive innovations.





Identify and implement process and system improvements, adopting newer technologies and innovative ideas.

Lead and execute comprehensive digitization strategies to optimize operational efficiency.

Innovate and implement automation solutions to support overall organizational goals and strategy.

People and Team Engagement: Drive the development of subordinates through Training Need Identification (TNI) and ensuring structural trainings relevant for the boiler area.

Lead, inspire, and mentor the team to foster a high-performance culture and ensure cross-skilling through job rotation, technical, and behavioural trainings.

Ensure proper succession planning in the team and foster an environment conducive to high employee retention by ensuring team satisfaction and professional development.

Support operations team for emergency handling and ensure the timely and effective response to emergencies.

Qualifications and Experience

Educational Qualification: B.

tech/BE in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree related field from a recognized institution.

Work Experience (Range of years): 15+ years of experience in power plant maintenance, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or managerial role overseeing boiler rotary equipment.

Preferred Industry: Experience in the thermal power generation industry, specifically with expertise in the operation and maintenance of coal-fired power plants.
