A Heidelberg 2-color offset printing machine operator sets up, operates, and maintains sheet-fed presses (e.g., SM 74/102) to produce high-quality, two-color prints. Key duties include adjusting ink/dampening rollers, managing registration, monitoring print quality, and performing routine maintenance to optimize production.

Key Responsibilities

- Machine Setup : Preparing the press for printing, including setting up plates, adjusting paper feeding mechanisms, and setting ink levels for2-color jobs.
- Operation & Quality Control : Running the machine at optimal speeds (e.g., up to 13,000 sheets/hr) while monitoring for color accuracy, registration, and defects.
- Maintenance : Performing daily maintenance, cleaning, and minor troubleshooting of Heidelberg offset presses to minimize downtime.
- Ink/Dampening Management : Adjusting ink and water balance for optimal print quality,



often using specialized roller systems.

Required Skills and Experience

- Technical Knowledge : Deep understanding of offset printing processes and Heidelberg machine mechanics (e.g., SM 72, SM 102).
- Experience : Usually 1-5+ years of experience in operating [2-color or similar offset machinery.
- Attention to Detail : Ability to maintain high-quality standards and detect minor color variations.
- Physical Stamina : Capability to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced production environment.
